Does her internal papers use her fathers name with the gender changes?.....

All of her papers have her patronymic and family name in feminine form. Is that your question?

Thank you Cruise77

Point taken that it might be harder to get a tourist visa when she is my spouse.  And of course the US does not have a conscious, that was a digression.

Expand

You can try and have her apply for a tourist visa, you might have luck recently as another VJer's fiancee did in Moscow and got one. On the flip side, my husband's tourist visa was rejected flat out despite him having ties such as his own flat here, etc, we suspect because he's married to me, a USC.

Also, a general question for the more seasoned VJers: what on earth are "security checks"? Is this the same thing as AP or....? Sheesh, it seems like just when I thought I understood this process, something else pops up that I haven't heard about.

Sorry to hear about this ordeal, OP....hope things get settled soon.

Hello Everyone,

My fiancΓ© and I are on a security hold and are soon approaching the six month mark. I have called to tier two service multiple times and went to an Infopass interview which have told me nothing except β€œyou are on a security hold and we cannot predict a timeline”.   I am preparing to submit an Ombudsman and congressional inquiry.  Are there any other members who are on a security hold?  Perhaps the FBI is on a backlog or something.  Also, are there any particular congressmen that are particularly helpful with USCIS that anyone has worked with?

I am starting to lose faith and considering just marrying my love abroad and starting over with the I-130.

Submit a request to the nearest Congressional unit that has jurisdiction over your residence. They do have a lot of leverage at the US Embassy in Moscow as there is a separate Liaison unit in Moscow.

Furthermore, if it is a security check, the same will be applicable to the CR-1 visa as well. I would contact them, then fill out a request with the Ombudsman of USCIS and also send a privacy release letter to the Congressional unit.

Good luck! Russians are usually not subject to those longer security checks unless were born in some of those territories.

Whoa, huh? How can anyone "help" with a B-1/B-2 visa? That seems to contradict everything said on VJ about the visitor/tourist visa process. Maybe you meant a different type of visa?

Thank you piff.  Yes, I have heard that a congressional inquery can help.  I do think that this is what I must do.  I know that the Ombudsman asks that we wait until 6 months (which is in a few weeks).  But do you know how long congressman require us to wait before they will help?

I do not believe that piff is talking about help with the B-1, B-2.  There are congressional inquiries for I-129F/K-1 & the spousal visas for out of normal processing time checks.

That would make more sense.

Really easy, I invited a fiancee of my best friend, he had a visa, she was denied with my invitation. I then submitted an inquiry to the Congressional unit, she applied again, and was approved after asking 1 question - how does she know me, and they apologized for the previous denial.

There is just confusion here because you cannot invite someone with a B-1/B-2, which is what you referenced earlier. I assume you're talking about the K-1 and just mis-typed earlier.
