I respect your opinion.

On the electorates, I don't think they consider much of anything these days, they simply vote the way their state voted.

Oh I meant electorate as in the voting public, not the electoral college. Either way, we're all entitled to our own views of course :)

Okay, in that case I double down on the fact that they don't consider much of anything and that goes for both parties. There are dummies on both sides who vote strictly for the letter beside the candidate and put no further thought into the process.

I would say the solid base of both parties do, the people who are diehard R's or D's and that's quite a few people. There are a lot of people who are educated on the issues, but no matter how much better the other candidate is, they still won't vote for him/her simply because of that letter beside their name. I know a fair share of people that vote strictly a long party lines no matter the issue.

Yeah I know some who do that too(and btw no matter what party it's for, I do think that is stupid to do, but I don't necessarily believe that those people are stupid), but my point was there are other issues or stuff in people's thought process that we don't even know about because we don't live and each and every single person's shoes. For example, someone may have voted for Trump because they saw their health insurance premium skyrocket or and/or because they genuinely believe he will bring jobs back(say they are unemployed). Now, you are well aware of my opinion on where things are headed in coming years with Trump or without him where the economy is concerned, so I'm not saying that people necessarily voted for the right reasons - believing he can give them things he really can't. But do I believe it makes them stupid? No I don't because I'm not in their shoes. I'm not in the shoes of people who voted for Clinton either so I don't judge them. Our life and thus our votes are influenced by many factors in our life and we're all individuals with different dynamics. Just my two cents.

There's no doubt that many people vote for candidates for many different reasons and you're right, that doesn't make them stupid. What I said previously was that I didn't believe that everyone who voted for Trump was stupid or of lower intelligence. But even the smart educated voter that voted for Trump had to overlook the lack of moral character the man possesses in order to approve of him as a President.

I myself had to hold my nose to cover the stink in order to vote for Hillary Clinton. But I think that Hillary was clearly the better choice on election day. I personally could not come to terms with voting for Trump based on what I knew about him. I wasn't going to vote for him before the tape on the bus came out, but after hearing that tape, I find it hard to believe that anyone with good moral character could vote for him.

I find it difficult to say that 60 million people don't have good moral character. I'm sure some voted for the wrong reasons, just as I'm sure some voted for Clinton for the wrong reasons. I'm also sure there are many Trump voters that had to hold their nose too. At the end of the day it is what it is man, I'm not trying to convince you and I'm sure you're not trying to convince me nor would we be able to lol. These elections sucked, I'm sure the majority can agree on that.

There were two groups of people in the population that voted for Trump:

1. The group that didn't see any problems with how Trump behaves and treats women, and how he treats opponents - They have a similar low moral character compared to their choice for President

2. The group that DID recognize those problems with Trump, but decided to prioritize something else over those and ended up voting for him - They may not have a low moral character, but they don't rank morality very highly in the grand scheme of things

Though I agree one major problem with this election was you can make the same statement about both candidates. Hillary definitely has her own list of morality-questioning actions and characteristics. So in order to vote for either one you had to put aside certain standards (if you had them).

I come from the position that if you have to hold your nose, stick your fingers in your ears, or close your eyes in order to vote for a candidate then they don't deserve your vote. Now I know that's not a common thought process of the average American voter, but that's just how I've always been. My conscience prevents me from voting from a person I believe is a threat to our way of life, and it won't allow me to vote for a 'lesser' of two evils either. Some might say that's just idealism, but I don't think what happens in American politics these days is what the founders intended. There was a reason they were concerned about demagogues on either side.

I think that number is probably very low. From what I've seen of people in my lifetime, I'd say that number is much higher.

So all the people that voted for Clinton 2x times have low moral character ?

Well, where the problem would come in these elections is if everybody was that way, we would end up with like 3 votes total :P

I wish I could be that idealistic. Unfortunately, once the two parties decided on their candidates one of them was going to be President. "3rd party candidates" are a joke in this country, so realistically we had to pick one of two people.

I had problems with each one but when it came down to it my moral compass was conflicting less with Hillary than with Trump. Not to mention when both candidates are morally dubious it sort of equals it out a bit, and you are then able to consider other aspects and clearly Hillary was more prepared and more knowledgeable.
