Again, I give credit where it's due. He has a lot more "true but misleading" or "mostly true" statements listed there. Compared to his prior "pants on fire" approach.

Again though, he's vaulting a child size limbo bar.

I consider misleading to be a lie.  You know it's not the whole truth and you're purposely twisting it to make you look good.  It's dishonest.

Well that's something Trump has excelled at his entire life. Research ''Truthful Hyperbole'' and you'll see what I mean. Here's a fun little blog on it. http://blog.talkingphilosophy.com/?p=9080

My sister in law's husband is a big Trump fan and went to his rally in Wi. The funny thing is he would have liked Bernie though had he ran, but in lieu of Bernie preferred Trump over Clinton. And the man is far from a socialist(next to him I'd be considered one) but liked Bernie for some of the stuff him and Trump actually have in common. It's a really weird link. I'm not saying I necessarily believed that he would not change, but you never know if someone's going to be the first or not until you wait to find out so it was more a benefit of the doubt kind of thing. I'm not disappointed or surprised at all, but my personal "approval rating" of him since he got in office has definitely gone down.

how is that even possible? i'm not questioning what you're saying about your sil bf, just don't understand. i would think the policy proposals bernie and co wanted would not be anything close to palatable for someone who could get on board with what trump wants to do. extreme opposites.

Great speech. Pundits are saying it was his best ever. IMO the democrats should have just stayed home. They made fools of themselves.

Of course it was his best ever. Have you heard his other speeches? He sets the bar so low that his best is the one that he reads on teleprompter.

True and yes Obama was much more natural.  I've watched trump before.  He never seemed like he was reading anything.  He always seemed to just be speaking naturally.  Not that I always liked what he said but it did seem very natural.  Last night was not that at all.  Looks like they have reined him in a bit and made him follow a set speech.  I will admit he seemed much more presidential and less of an embarassment.  i can deal with that trump.....other than all his BS.

Trump was sniffling, which is what he does when he gets nervous and uncomfortable. He's out of his element, he knows it, and he knows we all know it too. But at long last his speechwriter made him sound quasi-presidential in the speech. He needs a speech coach to teach him how to deliver to an audience, and he needs to work on his timing - he could learn a thing or two from Alec Baldwin.

The speech was disappointing, because it lacked specifics. He talks about big cuts, huge this, and that, but no specifics as to what he means by tax cuts for corporations and the middle class. All he has to say is he will cut taxes and increase government spending. He should just put on a Nixon mask and repeat "We are all Keynesians now".

Understandably the MDRs have something to celebrate. The so-called president has spoken to a room full of opponents and managed to keep his cool. He must be attending anger management sessions. Kudos for the Adolescent In Chief!

trump basically needed a negative reference to self, like to to not show up to the joint session, to equal alllll the "i won the election so bigly" talk we've had to endure the past month.

Maybe all the tweeting he does has finally led to him getting sick of talking about and calling attention to himself?

Unlikely.

Well thing is it's not even only him. I remember even before the elections they were saying it's possible some 20% of Bernie supporters would vote for Trump. I don't know how many actually ended up doing it, but it has something to do with stuff like their proposal and rhetoric on trade which are almost indistinguishable., they both favor campaign finance reform, neither talked like politicians, they both support maintaining or expanding current levels of social security benefits, both have similar views on gun control(Sanders being a vermonter makes it almost a given), both supported single payer at one time(even Trump although now he seems to have backed away), both want to invest alot into infrastructure, so there's differences but there's also some similarities.
