Hi VJers,

Does anyone have any experience requesting IRS transcripts after an address change?

My fiance (petitioner) has moved since he filed his taxes last year. Just found out that to request transcripts in such case requires file an address change first which takes up to 6 weeks to process. Our NOA 2 was just approved and I doubt we have that much time. There is very little information available online about this issue, but I have found a post saying that we could ask over the phone for the transcripts to be faxed immediately, has anyone done that?

P.S. We're using tax transcripts because he's a freelancer who gets paid by project and his income is not very well recorded -- so we're using a joint sponsor anyways. So maybe my fiance's tax returns won't matter as much anyways and we don't have to worry about getting the IRS transcripts?

Thank you for everyone's help in advance! :)

I've heard of people calling and asking for the transcript sent over fax, which seems like your best option. Also, I'd file for the change of address right away, because who knows, maybe it'll get done in no time. First thing I suggest just calling the IRS and finding out.

Is there any way you could just have it mailed to your old address and have the current resident let you know or the apt complex or whatever? My EAD got approved just when we moved and we asked the apt manager to hold it for us.

So maybe my fiance's tax returns won't matter as much anyways and we don't have to worry about getting the IRS transcripts? I think you definitely should include the transcript anyway. While they definitely won't care as much about his income, he's still the primary sponsor and must provide the minimum evidence required.

Thank you for everyone's help in advance! :)

Thank you for your help guys! We ended up finding his tax returns on the tax prep service he used last year and will be using that + bank statements. Hope this will work. Cheers! <3
