I'm waiting until I get my EAD. I can't be bothered to go to the office just to be told to come back once I have a different form of ID.

We had the same situation. We made an InfoPass appointment and they confirmed we sent all the right stuff. Some agents just don't understand that not all birth certificates look the same :P We sent the same documents and translation with certification, plus printed out the Reciprocity Schedule as in the travel.state.gov link in the RFIE letter. We wrote a cover letter explaining that the document is the foreign birth certificate for his country according to their instructions in the RFIE.

Good luck!

Thanks for your response, did they do anything else than let you know that it was the correct document at the infopass appointment?

We had a few other questions about unrelated things such as his A-number being changed. It was very helpful and I feel a lot more at ease after that. A Tier-2 phone support agent also confirmed that resending the birth cert, translation and travel.state.gov printout complied with the RFIE. You can check my post history to see a photo of the exact language on our RFIE to see if it's the same as yours

Yes it is, and they also sent the travel.state.gov requirements along with it. So I guess we will send the same one but the original and see what happens. We also sent another translation along with it.

Did you follow the instructions in the RFE letter? There should be an address where to send the documents.

If you followed the instructions you have nothing to worry about :)
