It is optional .Since you sent your application before April 18th which is the deadline to file taxes for 2016  ,you don't have to send the 2016 tax return ,but if you had mailed them after April 18th then you should send the 2016 tax return too.

What a week!! congratulations on those that got their packages sent out last week and to those who got their packaged reviewed and NOA 1 sent out to them.

To some who haven't got any update yet from USCIS, be a little patient as the USCIS instructs that if after 30 days you do not get any update from them that you should call, please abide by that. Needless to compare our cases, our individual cases should serve as an encouragement and lesson of ideas of what to do wrong or right to each of us and not as a comparative case study, permit me to say, some of our dear folks like @Becci391@antoineD,@soft, @PinkCandy, @rose Michigan, @ifoemaUS etc got their cases attended to way after those they sent out together with, please be patient, let's continue to encourage ourselves and keep it positive. it could be frustrating but it is okay.

To @Kalciaa  I can imagine how frustrating your receiving your package could be but please be encouraged and know that we all got your back in prayers and all we could to encourage you and all of us. stay positive and motivated.

Please for those who haven't sent their package yet or know who wants to send their package, take a little time to go through your package and if possible seek a second opinion and when it comes to address be very meticulous and more so when it comes  to addressing the checks or money order be super careful and use  U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY as specified please.

good luck to us all, this week shall be lots of good news to us. cheers

I just added my cases to my USCIS account and see that an RFE was sent out already for the 485 on 3/21 after being accepted on 3/10...is that quick for an RFE? I mean I'm glad it's been touched and looked at already but wow...that was fast!

The good news is your case has been accepted and almighty will favour us all in this journey, please let us know the RFIE I was accepted 03/08 .

Good luck to us all

Yes it's a Request for Initial Evidence. Weird because I followed the guide to a "T" regarding paperwork to be submitted ...the only thing I can think of is a certified marriage license instead of the copy.

You don't need certified copies for most USCIS applications anymore - except if explicitly requested.
