I'm finally able to post on the thread again... VJ wasn't letting me add a reply! We had our interview on october 11th and it went well but no decision on the spot...

October 16th: approval letter for I130
October 17th: app updated I130 approved and I485 new card is being produced (with October 11 dates)

Card still hasn't been mailed even though it has been in production for 12 days... I called and they said production could take up to 60 days!!! Ugh

ok, maybe i shouldn't put too much faith into the tier II guys either, but just  be comforted that i at least passed the BG check.

i've personally only ever gone into a field office with an appointment, but my local office seems to always be booked out - i can never find availability on the website. i did see some people wait without an appointment when i last went (last year) and i imagine it's like at the DMV: it'll be WAY WAY slower, but you'll hopefully get to see someone by the end of the day if you get there early in the AM without an appointment, but i'm just extrapolating.

In my field office there are no appointments available either no matter what time you check the website. So My husband went to the infopass without an appointment they let him inside and he was able to talk to an officer. Even though it says that you have to have an appointment!! You should just give it a try, go early in the morning I think they open at 7 am.

Hi everyone!

I had an infopass appointment today at the field office in San Diego and thought I'd share some info with you that might be interesting.

The officer said that currently a lot of the I-485 are taking so long to have an interview scheduled because each field office in the U.S. had to send some employees into the hurricane affected areas. A lot of the staff is currently not working at the field offices on immigration cases anymore. So if you are as unlucky as me and the officer that has your case has been helping in Texas for the past five weeks, chances are you're not going to have your interview anytime soon. The officer at the field office was so nice and said he would try to get my case out of the locked department from the other officer and see whether he can give it to an officer that remained in San Diego, but if I didn't go to talk to them it would still be locked away just sitting in the drawer of an officer that is gone.

After a few questions the officer looked through my case and said that I have a pretty straight forward and easy case since I came on a K1 visa and in fact offered that if me and my husband wanted, he would get my papers that are locked away in his co-workers office and just conduct my Greencard interview today (no kidding!). Unfortunately we didn't gather any bonafide papers yet and both had to get to work so we had to decline... :( What I thought was interesting though is that the officer said that he's sure that if my husband had gone to my K1 interview with me, that I would've not needed this interview. He said they probably just want to talk to him now... which makes the rumour true that people from low fraud countries that both go to the K1 interview likely end up getting a waiver.

Anyways...just wanted to share!

I'm confused.. what do you mean with K1 interview? You mean for your visa before coming over? Because for my country that wasn't allowed. Only applicants..

Yes K1 interview. It's consulate specific. In some countries it's allowed in others it's not. They also said in Frankfurt, Germany, that only the applicant is allowed but all the K1 applicants I talked to at the consulate brought their fiance(e) with them so it actually ended up being allowed to bring your partner.

In Amsterdam, the Netherlands it's not allowed. They didn't let anyone in who didn't have an appointment. That means fiance (e) and I do know a lot of people from the Netherlands who did get the waiver.  I wish I had time to go to an info pass appointment..

Yeah I mean in general the quota seems to be 50/50 whether you get a waiver when you come on a K1, I guess your odds of having the AOS interview waived are just bigger if your partner has been to the K1 interview with you...at least it seems so according to this officer I talked to.  In the end he also could be wrong since he's not the one waiving interviews but the Missouri field center, just thought it was interesting as I've heard that rumour a lot before I came to the U.S.

yes first of all it's so tough to get an infopass apointment at all and then even if you get the earliest appointment date (7am), they don't call you to the window until it's like 7:45am. At least in San Diego. This happened at both my field office appointments so far. So as long as I don't get a super early appointment I can't go to USCIS because I need to go to work.

But to be honest, the only reason I went to the field office today wasn't bc I was fed up waiting for the interview but because as it turned out at my last appointment 5 weeks ago, someone had accidently denied my AOS case instead of rescheduling my interview. So I just wanted to go today to make sure that everything is fine now and I ended up being lucky that I was able to push my AOS interview forward to get it soon.

Funny thing! I just called the NBC to find out where my case is located. Since I got my Workpermit before online they said they were working on it. After that phone call a few minutes later I got the update that my interview is scheduled.

SO people who have Sacramento as their field office, they seem to be working on March filers..

Hi everyone.

So we got an interview notice yesterday, October 26th. It's scheduled for November 28th and our online status only updated today.

Well, as much as I was hoping that the letter from USCSIS was an approval notice, this is still good news. Time to get to paperwork collection again.

Hello all,

I‘m waiting since May 10, for an interview appointment... now i have a problem. my husband and i are living in florida right now and we are going to move back to pennsylvania in the beginning of december. and in febuary we are going abroad because my husband has to deploy.

Does anyone know whats best to do now? i will change my address in december... so my field office will change too then in febuary i have to change it again and go to an US embassy once i get an appointment or how does that work?

i called uscis already and they weren’t helpful at all... she just told me i would have to change my address and that they are not working on my case right now because the processing times says that they are working on november 2016.... and i filed in mach 2017...

i‘m just wondering if anyone with the same „timeline“ and maybe even the same field office (new orleans) have their interview appointment already? i hoped we could get the interview appointment done before we move and especially before we go abroad.

anyone with has the same problem? any other military couples with experiences in that?

congratulations to everyone who got their green card already! ....and the rest of us we have to stay strong and be patient 💪🏻

Anyone experienced getting "new card is being produced" for I485 update online but no approval letter and no card mailed for over 3 weeks? Starting to get worried.

I'd call USCIS by the end of the week and ask what is going on with your card.

My GC was approved a while back (I actually filed for ROC a few weeks ago) - my then-fiance did go to the interview with me (it was allowed in my embassy) and I did get my GC approved with an interview waiver, but I know of at least one case that the GC was also approved without an interview where the US citizen did not attend the interview. So I suppose that could be true for some, but not necessarily for all.

Wow, that's weird. On what basis do they deny entrance to US citizens to their own embassy?
