Our NOA date is March 24, 2017. We did not hear anything until today, Sept. 27, 2017. We got an email stating that we are getting a RFIE in the mail for AOS

I hope this means that they are working on March cases and I hope it will be better news for the rest of you.

Had our interview in Tampa. The officer was very polite.

The first part was him making sure I could give marriage benefits to my wife (who was to receive the green card)

He examined my passport and evidence of prior divorces.

He then asked some basic questions like date of birth, name of mother and father and moved to my wife's application.

He asked for her birth certificate and copy of her legal name change from a few years ago (which I had brought)

I gave him a stack of photos, 3 leases, our wills, my tax returns, our joint car insurance and joint medical insurance.

He went through the check list in my wife's application. He kept a few photos for the file but indicated on the spot it was approved...

He indicated they usually split up couples to interview only when they haven't been married a long time.

The whole process took about an hour... we have a piece of paper saying ''approved'' and the uscis account was updated as we were walking out the door that my wife's card is in production...

Very relieved.  Very happy. Six months total time.

Hi everyone. Huh okay...sooo...14 days left until our interview in Philadelphia so I have one question. When we sent our package we sent my original birth certificate as well...So what to do now? Do I need to take another original from my country or? Please help, I am afraid that can be a problem. Or just copy is enough? Thank you so much in advance!

Had our interview and it was great. Wife is the AOS applicant and I am USC.

The interview was very easy. Whole interview was 15 minutes at most.

When we came into a room the officer said we can have a seat and offered to swear in while we were standing so we did.

Started with two three basic question based on two front pages of AOS application. Then he began asking usual questions for 20 or so questions about crime, terrorism, being affiliated with groups, and such. I noticed that first three question he asked word for word and put check mark next to them. After asking next question he put check mark on 4-5 questions, followed my another question or two while he put check marks next to other 10 questions.

Then he asked my wife when if she visited in 2015, followed by how we met and why her first visit with parents was with us. Then officer looked over papers and said everything looks good including affidavit of support and noticed that they got the medical form as well. Then asked if we have something to submit to which I replied with a question if he meant items to support our bona fide. He said yes and I offered bank statement with our names and copy of car title with our names as well. While he was filing those into his folder I also grabbed 4 photos that we had. After small chit chat about photos the officer looked through some papers again and said that everything looks good. He noted that our case is pretty simple and easy and we are approved. Green card will arrive in about 3 weeks. He clarified that wife can apply for citizenship three years (minus 90 days) after she receives the greencard. Before that we will have to remove conditions regardless if we have been together more than two years or not.

Officer was very polite and very easy to talk to. This was my second interview that I attended at USCIS and so far I am 100% satisfied with staff at Portland, OR office.

I also wanted to ask about medical form for everyone else still waiting but kind of forgot after he said that we are approved xD

Congrats on the approval!!! Also, it's good to hear that the Portland office is working on March filers!

Thank you, just one less thing to think about now. They are probably working on May-June filers at this point, since we are march filers with May RFIE response.

My theory is that with our case, because we had RFIE on I-485, all our cases were reset as if we filed when RFIE response was received.

I checked estimated processing times that this forum provides and it was pretty spot on in terms of EAD/AP applications. Meaning on the day we received status update for EAD/AP the processing date on this site was May 18 or 19. Pretty much the date our RFIE response was received. Also I took a look at list of all timelines that filed on May and some of them already had interviews scheduled for similar date as ours. Even now looking at timelines I can see that a lot of May-June filers seems to have interviews scheduled or are within window to get their's scheduled.

Anyway, what I was trying to suggest was that in our case RFIE reset the filling date to that of RFIE response received date for all of our applications. There was a conversation about this before we got any updates, so here is our story. Anyone else with RFIE on their AOS application, check estimated processing times for EAD and AP that this forum provides when you get an update on EAD/AP. Let us know if processing date was close to the date your RFIE response was received by USCIS.

I see you are in California. If you are in a sanctuary city, I'm pretty sure they cannot even ask your immigration status. The only time this could potentially be a problem is if you are prosecuted/convicted. Since you are at no fault, you should have no trouble. Did you get a ticket? If not, you should be ok.

Hopes of a a speedy recovery

i am in florida :D i didn't get cited, didn't get any ticket accept fail to show proof of insurance but i had it with me and i forgot it because i was in shock and was in hospital.  i am just gonna go and show my proof and pay dismissal fee.

i'm not sure where britontherun got that info (no offense), but my lawyer says Stokes Interviews (where they separate you) is if you've got huge age disparity (at least violating the half your age + 7 rule), haven't met in person before getting married, or don't share linguistic or cultural things in common (like you're north indian and only speak hindi, and your wife only speaks tamil or something.)

almost everyone here won't have been married "for long" as many people apply for AOS right after getting married, so i don't think Stokes will apply here, guys.

We all get temporary green card. But how it looks like? Do we get a card or we get some stamp in the passport or both? I am asking because I am in a process of getting a new passport so I am afraid they will stamp this one that will become old one soon...

I assume it something like temporary driver license here in oregon. Because  EAD expires in a year, driver license also expires in a year but also there is a note "LIMITED TERM"

So maybe on temporary/conditional greencard it will say something similar. Will know for sure in couple weeks.

I'm guessing it's going to say valid until..

Funny thing my driver's license is good for 5(!) years. I thought it would be valid until my ead would expire but that's not the case. Maybe it's a California thing or maybe I just got lucky!

I'm still waiting to hear anything about my GC. It's been 189 days...
