If more work-based green card applicants will get interviews starting in October feel like my Iranian husband and I won't be interviewed for a loooong time now :( no updates on our I-485 since RFIE response received in April

We are usually held up by excessive background checks. Anyways, I don't thing I will be seeing any update for at least 2 years.

Hello. I just wanted to add my update from New York. Our AOS paperwork was received March 9th. We got one RFE in the beginning of April and received the EAD/AP middle of May. Now today we got the letter in the mail saying the green card is approved. We did not have an interview. Good luck to everyone. This website is amazing!

Wow that's crazy good news. Congratulations! I'm in the same office and my paperwork was received February 27th. Did the online status never change for you?

Oh okay, your post made it seem as if you never got the online approval, just the approval letter in the mail.

I honestly hardly checked online because he already has the combo card. I did check last week randomly and it hadn't changed and when I looked today it said the card was sent out on the 29th.

USCIS is consolidating their five processing centers into one location in Maryland. They didn't say when they will be moving, but keep an eye on this news so you don't mail things to old locations in the future as you remove conditions

Question for those who are also in NY: My case was submitted on 03/29/2017, and my response to an RFE was received on 05/03/2017. Since then, my 485 didn't change at all, not even to "ready to schedule an interview". Is that normal? Has anyone had a similar situation? Thank you all!!

Hi. Well like I said my status just went straight from RFE received (in April) to card mailed (last week). We didn't have an interview they just sent it. Hope that helps!

My wife and I are thinking about finally making a vacation trip outside of USA, and in current situation that we are right now I would like some input from forum members.

On September 1st EAD status changed to new card is being produced, so maybe two or three weeks after that we will see the EAD card.

On September 27th we will have our AOS interview. If we receive EAD card by that time, is it going to be taken away at the interview? This is just my guess, but if they do then AOS decision has probably already been made and green card will be issued as a replacement. Is my guess anywhere near close to the truth.

Now in case that my guess is true and they will take EAD at the interview, what happens if we do not receive EAD card before the interview? Is there going to be a second interview to turn in the EAD card, or does EAD card become void assuming positive decision on AOS? If it does not become void and/or it is not taken away at the interview, then would there be a problem if we travel after the interview but before green card is in the mail? Could she be denied entry with EAD in this case?

To note, this is only a "what-if" kind of questions. We haven't made plans 100% and are just in process of figuring it out. Good vacation deal was offered to us and if our situation permits it we would love to take the deal.
