Congratulations and you said you were out of status. May i ask you what visa were you adjusting from and did the officer ask you questions from the new i485 or the old one. The new one basically has questions regarding being out of status and work related

I have seen u asking questions about this before but stopped myself from answering coz i didn't want to jinx myself... I am adjusting from F1 and i had been out of status for just over 2 years when i applied on may 24th 2017... He asked me some of the yes or no questions and all of it was from the old I-485 form(i think, as i had submitted the old form and as i was too nervous and was just answering no coz i knew i had answered no on all the questions)... btw if its not a yes or no question from the form you need not worry as they only ask you the yes or no questions from the form under oath as they are really important... Being married to a US citizen negates the overstay or out of status problems so just answer honestly and you wont have any problems... having worked illegally could also be sore spot... hope this helped... best of luck...

Hi fellow March filers!

Did anyone get a combo EAD/AP card since they changed the EAD cards in May?  How long did it take to get to you from when you got the approval email/update on the website?  I got an email saying my EAD card is being produced and my I-131 was approved (both on August 2) but I am worried only one will come before we are scheduled for travel.  Thanks in advance!

Sent you a pm. Short answer is you can get it done fast by calling DMV Head office in Sacramento. Do not wait. Some detail below.

It can take months via mail or even at local dmv in person as they have to send photocopies of the new cards there. By calling and faxing documents I was able to get same day document verification & temp dl with a local dmv walk in (they are not supposed to supply a temp until document verification). You might need the drivers test etc however if that is sorted you'll have the license a week after verification.

I'm writing this in case it happens to another person on this forum or someone is using the VJ searchbar to look for the same issue (which I did but didn't help much because I never found the answer Babigau gave):

So the recommendations from Babigau to go through Sacramento instead of waiting for the normal DMV were extremely helpful (thank you so much for that)! After a week I called the "general DMV hotline" just as I've been told by the lady at the DMV and they said that nothing has been verified yet. THe lady on the phone seemed utterly confused though so I called the main DMV office in Sacramento just like Babigau had told me. THey even have a department there that just handles immigration verification processes for the DMV. I told them what happened and both guys I talked to there said it was odd that my DMV didn't let me take the test. Apparently the normal procedure would've been to let me take all the tests and then verify my status afterwards. Anyways the guy said that he can find my DMV application in the system but can't see that the DMV made copies of my EAD and sent them to the Department of Homeland Security to verify my status (so I would've waited forever to have the normal DMV taking care of this because they obviously messed this up). I had to send a fax with a readable photocopy of my EAD and DL permit number to Sacramento. The guy, Brian, I had on the phone said he will personally take care of this matter so I can continue taking my tests. When I called them an hour later to see whether the fax i sent them of the EAD was big and bright enough (that's what they told me to make sure), I was told that Brian had already taken care of everything and had verified my status by USCIS. Apparently instead of just sending the documents to the Department of Homeland Security to get the verification what the normal DMV would do (which can take months), the Sacramento head office just goes straight through USCIS and sends the same document (my EAD) that I sent them to USCIS to have it quickly verified. Having everything verified I went back to my DMV today and just told them that my status had been verified. They didn't even check it or anything although I had been told to tell them to call Sacramento if they had given me a hard time. I was finally allowed to take my written test and my behind the wheel test will be in two weeks. Hopefully everything will go smoothly then as well because this immigration process has been nothing but a nightmare so far for me (142 days wait for EAD and now having issues getting a CA DL).

Wow you weren't even aloud to take your written test? I live in Sacramento (thank God apparently) and went to my DMV (Carmichael)and had no problems whatsoever. I'm sorry you had to go through all of this. Hopefully everything goes smoothly from this point on.

Good luck on your behind-the-wheel test. I'll have mine on the 29th!
