Don't drive anyone crazy. Some people get their NOA's sooner, some a little later. With the current backlog and the fact that they're using a lawyer, they may not hear anything for another 7-10 days without actually having to worry about it.

Driving anyone crazy?  That sounds awkward , anyways I never meant that........wishing all of us good luck in this journey

Sorry I didn't mean for it to come across in a mean way. All I was trying to say is that not hearing back from USCIS 2 weeks after sending it in is nothing out of the ordinary right now. And especially since they hired a lawyer. He/she will get the info before passing it on to the applicants most of the time. Yes they should hear back from them soon but saying "you should have heard back from them by now" only puts negative thoughts into their minds.

We all just have to stay positive and encourage each other. We're all in the same boat.

By the way, I just saw that you said your local office is Albany. My case will probably get routed to NYC because I'm closer to it. But I'd much rather go to Albany instead. So much easier to get to and they're working on August already instead of late March / early April in NYC.

Hey there, hope you don't mind me asking, but I take it the dates you included above refer to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do data on local offices, correct?

I pulled up info for my local office, SF, which similar to NYC says March/April 2016 for I-485.

What does that mean?

Is that the date they received application packages from? Or the date people got their NOA1 for I-485? Something else?

And how does now/today relate to this? The somewhat opaque description on the website you get after selecting a field office says "The chart below shows the forms processed at our Field Offices" - so in plain English, does that mean that as of today, people whose I-485 were NOA1 accepted on March, 2016 were able to get their Green Card?

Timeline:

  • AOS application submitted: 1/28/17
  • NOA1 for 130/765: 2/24/17
  • NOA1 for 485: 3/2/17
  • Biometrics letter: 3/11/17
  • Biometrics appointment: 3/30/17
  • EAD in production: 5/23/17
  • EAD received: 5/26/17
  • AP application received: 9/15/17
  • AP application approved: 12/2/17
  • Interview Notice received: 12/23/17
  • AOS Interview: 1/23/18
  • Approval email/texts: 2/8/18
  • Green Card mailed (hopefully): 2/14/18

That's basically it, yeah. But as ALWAYS when it comes to US immigration, your mileage may vary. Some take the whole year to get approved and other applications get done in 6 months. All we can do is hope for the best.

Very popular areas are always going to have a big backlog. That's the issue with offices in big cities like NYC and SF for example.

Atlanta is processing Green Card applications from May 2016...

I keep my fingers crossed for everyone that it will be a smooth process.

Don't forget though that some applications never make it to the field office and are processed and approved centrally. Mine was like that - we received a notice of potential interview waiver and within a few months the greencard was in the mail.

Speaking about the field office.

I received my 3 NOAs in the mail today and the address on the left bottom was the one of the National Benefits Center. Does that mean they will process my applications there or will they still send the applications to the field office? I'm a little bit confused.

I don't think you can tell from the NOA1 addresses. The cases are created/opened at a central location, from what I understand, and then potentially get routed to the field office.

Thank you all for your answers :)

My NOA1 was from MSC/the national benefits center too, but I think they'll eventually be routed to a field office, as SparklePony mentioned.

Hey Everyone!

I  posted my AOS package and it arrived at the lockbox on the 13th (it arrived at around 8pm) so maybe received on the 14th?

Anyway, I have found it really useful to know that from this forum there has been a backlog as I've been getting a little frantic with checking my texts, emails and if my check had been cashed!

I'm hoping to hear back from the USCIS soon but I'm really happy to see that most people are getting NOA1s and biometric appointments.

Congratulations so far and please keep it positive for the updates, mails and text messages will come. Good luck

4 notifications (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131) are normal because you're adjusting from F-1. K-1's only have 3 notifications because I think they don't need to apply for I-130 since they already got a K-1 visa (correct me if I'm wrong). Don't worry about the emails, they'll come. And if they don't, you'll still receive your NOA1 in the mail. I'm pretty sure they will be mailed to you, unless you put your lawyers address as your mailing address.

From what I have read, I agree with you. Congratulations so far.

10 hours ago, Becci391 said:

That's correct.

K1 visa holder only have to submit I-485, I-131 and I-765.

Got my 3 NOA1 hardcopies in the mail today. Now waiting for my biometrics letter. :)

Congratulations and good luck

Hello my fellow March filers,

Update: My husband received three text messages/emails from USCIS, one each for I-130, I-485, and I-765 at 10pm, March 20, 2017!

I was also able to check the status using three receipt numbers we got on USCIS website.

I was surprised that we received the text messages this soon, as everyone here was talking about the backlog at Chicago.

If you already received text messages, I'm finally one of y'all! If you haven't heard back from them, hang tight! We all know how you feel...we've been there.

Wow!!! Congratulations and good luck to all of us.

I also saw same address but I think that the field office you are sent for your interview or biometric/fingerprint will by default become your routed field office.
