Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the tenses you used in the above paragraph.

Did you already get a 693 or will you soon go get your 693?

Hopefully, it's the later. You'll need to show a civil surgeon here in the US your medical records that show your vaccines, be they from Indonesia or from the US (from MMR) - the surgeon will then give you the I-693 to submit to the USCIS.

If you already got a 693 prior to getting an MMR shot, I would imagine you'd have to get a 693 again - your civil surgeon has to state that you got an MMR vaccine - you can't just attach a letter from the place where you got the vaccine in addition to a 693 that says you don't have it. USCIS won't be responsible for taking any medical statements from people other than civil surgeons.

Does that make sense?

Dear antoineD,

Sorry for my English.

Yes I visited civil surgeon in USA to get MMR shot and then they gave me I-693 in sealed envelope. On that time I show them my DS-3025 for checking what vaccine that I got in Indonesia and then they update in I-693 form.

So for AOS do I only need to submit the I-693 that civil surgeon gave me?

Thanks so much

I'm from California, and I doubt I'd be able to use it here even - and trust me, you can get away with a ton of stuff in liberal California :)

When I tried to use a 797 to renew my driver license, they said it's not a form that entitles me to any benefits or functions as an ID in any way, so they recommended I use the state's program for undocumented migrants (!) to get licenses. I didn't do that.

I would just wait until you receive your EAD to renew your license.

Actually California belongs to the very few states who neither allows you to get a DL or ID on a K1 until you have your EAD nor do they allow driving for 6 months on your foreign DL. You can get a DL or ID for the first 90 days until your I94 expires but that's it. California is not liberal at all when it comes to the immigration policies. So far it seems to me that they are strictest of all states...

Y'all,
I have a question about my EAD that I submitted: I came to the US on a K1 visa.

When I filled out the I-765 paperwork, there is number 16: Eligibility category. According to the instructions I had to put a 6 in the space. Is that correct? I've been reading lately about a 9. What is that number for?

you needed to put c-9

if you put a6 then EAD will have i-94 validity time. if you wanted to have 1 year EAD then you needed to put c 9

there is someone else's quote about it

I'd think USCIS would be a little confused (they're not always the brightest sparks) because A6 means you need to pay the fee (and the EAD is only valid while the I-94 is) and C9 you don't pay the fee and it's valid for 1 year... but I would HOPE they would realise you meant C9. Worst case scenario they'll send it back for you to fix but that's not the end of the world. I would think you'd have heard relatively quickly while they checked the forms for appropriate payment etc so I'd say you're in the clear.

Please don't apologize - you're fine :-)

The I-693 will include all information required for AOS. I just wanted to confirm that your doctor is aware of your MMR shot AND previous shots, and you say s/he is.

You're all set: I-693 is all you need on the medical front, at least.

Should have been c9, yeah. I don't know what others would recommend here, but I would wait and see when you get your EAD with the K-1 expiry date (whatever that may be for you), and then when you apply for renewal (I think 3-4 months before the EAD expires, you can renew it), use the correct category.

Others: do you know if she can apply for I-765 under c9 after having already sent it under c6?

Yup. renewals are paid, except if you apply fresh for your AOS package after they reject it and return your check - but we don't want that.

I have a friend who renewed her asylum EAD and she had to renew, even though the original is for free due to humanitarian grounds. They make pretty much everyone pay for renewal these days.

PS: nice seeing a fellow German speaker on this board :)

Uhm...I don't have the money for a renewal right now...it would be  $495 including the Biometrics fee. I can't afford that right now.

Which is the expiry date? The date on the stamp or the date on the visa? The expiration date on my visa says 19 June 2017.

Yeah tried it here in California while my i-94 was still valid but was declined...(so mean...Lol) and was told to wait till I get my EAD or green card. They are stern on the issuance of DL/state ID in California, they won't bend for anything.

Awww!!! Sad about that. I advice all of us and intending filers to read the corresponding instructions to any form filled. There are very helpful.

If I were you, I will either call USCIS to get a succinct answer or better still wait for their decision on that to come so will suggest you don't preempt them. Good luck. Every step in this process is worrisome as one doesn't know actually what they may pick out of your forms. We keep our fingers crossed.
