It is kind of confused, since one can file AOS from working visa to EB2,EB3 (job based greencard), one can file AOS from student visa to EB1 greencard, further more, anyone can file for EB5 greencard..... which are totally from what we are filing for, marriage based greencard.

Yeah I understand what you mean. What VisaJourney is trying to separate is what visa you entered the US from, not what your reasoning for adjusting your status is.

@TL2016 yeah and I also feel Visajourney uses it to update their own database and keep a statistical data of members on here as to know the types of Visa members adjust from. Good luck all.

Not necessarily. I don't know why so many people adjusting from student and tourist visas are here in this section of the forum considering this is intended for people who adjusted from family based ones, but let me explain what the major difference is between those cases and our cases is.

Anyone adjusting from a tourist, student and in some cases work visas are required to have an interview. There is no way around that for them, so they often get the "Ready to be scheduled for interview" status online pretty quickly, even though it could be many months before they even get their interview appointment. The saying that cases with interviews are generally faster is also not entirely true.

Only cases with local offices that aren't backlogged usually get approved within the first 3-5 months. If I will need an interview for example, I probably won't get one until the beginning of 2018 because that's how bad the backlog in New York City is.

Quick update on my EAD/AP case: I just called USCIS about my pending EAD/AP status and the woman on the phone made a service request and gave me a confirmation number. I guess now I have to wait for an officer to get back to me.

Anyone know how long that usually takes until someone gets back to me?

I was also able to ask if my pending I-485 is still at the NBC or already on its way to the field office down here to Atlanta. As of right now, the I-485 is still at the NBC and within the normal time frame and the woman said that the officer who processes my case is the one who decides if I get an interview waiver or an interview letter. So the waiting game is still on for that case...

Call again. Whilst the USCIS hotline has been mostly helpful in my personal experience, sometimes they literally go by what the website says online. I had someone who wouldn't give me any info regarding my expedite request and transferred me to a tier 2 officer with a wait time of over 6 hours. So I hung up, called again and spoke to a woman who was able to give me the info I needed. She did have me verify almost all of my info because I called 3 times that day, but it really isn't an issue.

You were right !! I just called again and the lady gave me the fax and attn number. She also told me I should send the evidence along with the notice but since I haven't got an email it's not possible... How did you sent yours ? Did you just wrote the attn number on your evidence or did you use a separate piece of paper ?

Told ya!

I did not fax the notice because to this day I still haven't gotten it. I did write my full name, case number, expedite referral number and of course the attention number on the top left of the cover letter along with the job offer stating salary, benefits and start date.
