I really hope that is what it is, honestly I don't think I missed a single thing.... apart from we didn't include 3 months of pay stubs, so that could also be it, but we included so much other evidence... I'm just really hoping its i693 medical form they are wanting.

so you didn't get a change in online status for RFIE for your i693 .... dam! that means my RFIE isn't gona be my medical then.

Also some people get an RFIE for their medical while others get told to bring it to the interview. I believe it depends whether they can schedule an interview in the foreseeable future or not whether they will give an RFIE or not.

Some people say it does, others say it doesn't. Really, it just seems very you get lucky or not. An RFIE according to USCIS reverses the processing clock back to 0 and affects all the concurrently filed applications with it. While there's been people that had as a result EAD wait times of 150 days and over (look at November 2016 forum) there are people who got an RFIE and got their EADs within a normal processing time frame.

Source:

https://my.uscis.gov/helpcenter/article/how-long-does-uscis-have-to-make-a-decision-on-my-form-i-765-application-for-employment-authorization

"One exception to this rule is if USCIS requires initial or additional evidence. If initial is evidence is requested, the processing time will start from zero upon receipt of the requested evidence. If additional evidence is requested, the processing time limit is extended by the amount of time it takes for you to receive the request for evidence and respond to it. Also, the processing time is extended when a request for evidence is issued for any form filed concurrently with Form I-765."

Or:

  • If we issue a request for initial evidence, the date for calculating the processing time will start over from the date we receive the initial evidence.
    • For example, if your case has been pending for 60 days when we issue a request for initial evidence and you respond 30 days later, the date for calculating the processing time will start on the date we receive your response
  • In certain categories, we cannot process your Form I-765 until after we approve another application/petition because that approval is the basis for your application for employment authorization.

Taken from: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/tip-sheet-employment-authorization-applications-pending-more-75-days

If this is true and my RFIE for my i485 resets my EAD I don't know what I'll do..... I can't wait any longer to be able to work :(

I understand we are all in the same boat, but I can't be out of work any longer.... This entire process is just very emotionally and mentally draining. :(

I just hope its just for my medical, but if they give me an RFIE for it, can I not just bring it to my interview, because I don't want it to expire before I get to my interview. That was my plan.

Hello folks, greetings to you all. I sincerely congratulate some of us having great progress in their cases and so sad to see some of us like @emchappie having RFIE at this almost eleventh hour. Most times these days I feel so nauseated the way USCIS handle our cases, can someone succinctly educate me on the rationale of this process especially the EAD, being out of job is emotionally, psychologically and mentally draining me. Thanks all. Despite all we keep moving ( in the voice of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr).

Thanks, it really sucks, but I'm just really hoping it's just going to be asking me for my medical i693. but who knows, could be something thats just going to through my entire progress I've made so far out the window, and have to start from square 1 again. But thanks for the positivity

Call again. Whilst the USCIS hotline has been mostly helpful in my personal experience, sometimes they literally go by what the website says online. I had someone who wouldn't give me any info regarding my expedite request and transferred me to a tier 2 officer with a wait time of over 6 hours. So I hung up, called again and spoke to a woman who was able to give me the info I needed. She did have me verify almost all of my info because I called 3 times that day, but it really isn't an issue.

Oh wow! Well, I'll call tomorrow again and see what happens.

Do you mind me asking on what basis you make your EAD expedite? I sometimes have the feeling there is a correlation between the generic answer you got and the applicant not having "sufficient reasons" to expedite. In other words, judging from other threads I have the feeling that people who's partner is their main sponsor usually get that answer or get told that they have no reason to expedite even with job offer because their partner signed papers to support you.

Just a wild guess though.

I have a job offer. I'll try to get it expedited and hope they will. If not, at least I tried. And by the end of the week my case is pending over 75 days, too...

I meant on the basis of financial hardship or financial loss? Is your partner your main sponsor or do you have a co-sponsor?

Just trying to figure out whether there's a trend when they process it (like in TL2016 case bc he has a co-sponsor) or whether they give the generic please wait 30 days answer when you don't have a co-sponsor.

Congrat to both of you!  Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems F1s are being processed faster than K1s...

Not necessarily. I don't know why so many people adjusting from student and tourist visas are here in this section of the forum considering this is intended for people who adjusted from family based ones, but let me explain what the major difference is between those cases and our cases is.

Anyone adjusting from a tourist, student and in some cases work visas are required to have an interview. There is no way around that for them, so they often get the "Ready to be scheduled for interview" status online pretty quickly, even though it could be many months before they even get their interview appointment. The saying that cases with interviews are generally faster is also not entirely true.

Only cases with local offices that aren't backlogged usually get approved within the first 3-5 months. If I will need an interview for example, I probably won't get one until the beginning of 2018 because that's how bad the backlog in New York City is.
