I was told by NVC they needed to receive my police certificate (in my case there are 3 different countries as I've moved a bit) and that they won't send it to the embassy until they have them. I've not heard of them letting you just bring it to the interview, as NVC's job is to check all documents before that stage to ensure you're ready for your interview.

I called NVC this morning to ask about the Police Certificate and I was told to send it with rest of the papers otherwise they won't process the case, so that is what I will do.

But I know another Cuban guy that is bringing his wife using a lawyer and they didn’t get the police report and he already sent all the papers to NVC

I really hope our lawyer is right! This process has been the most stressful and frustrating 4 months and I do not want to wait another 2 just because of one form... Lawyer said she has been through this process a lot with other clients so I will keep you updated on what happens

Guys, a few questions:

1) Do I need a document cover sheet for electronic processing?

2) Do I name files of the joint sponsor’s documents the same as the other files (with the joint sponsor’s name)?

3) Does the IRS transcripts obtained by e-mail has to be scanned or can I send them as I received by e-mail (in PDF, but not scanned)?

4) Has anyone ever got a checklist for leaving non-applicable text boxes blank?

We provided a lot of pictures, flight itinerary etc from trips with our USCIS package, then we kept collecting stuff since then and when it got to NVC we provided pictures and itinerary of trips since then, pregnancy letter and scans, and so on to show the continuation of the relationship.    We figured better to provide too much than not enough.

Our lawyer told us we didn't have to include the police certificate and that we just have to bring it to the interview because it will be the most updated (I double checked with her because I did read on the NVC website that you have to send it but she told me she has been working with the NVC for a long time and that it wasn't necessary .... God I hope she is right because getting a checklist at week 18 is not my idea)

I do not think NVC will process your case without all police certificate(s).  We received a checklist for the police certificate and this had to be mailed in to NVC.  Once our case was approved and we received our interview date, the instructions for our Guyana consulate said to bring in an updated police certificate to the interview.  At the interview, they asked us for the updated police certificate.  @Thesmiths2016 totally agree, always better to provide as much as you can up front.  This actually helps with the interview - we front loaded our application with a lot of evidence and although we took 2 large binders worth of evidence to the interview, we were not asked to produce any of it.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents
