Agree with Andy & Mike.  Also, was it in another language other than English?

I would suggest you send it in now asap...if is better losing a few days now, rather than having to wait 10+ weeks later as a result of a checklist.

Yeah I believe the scan date will be reset. I have to wait until Monday as the swedish agenecy that issues the document is already closed. My main failure (if they dont loose it) ...is I paid nearly 80 bux to fast ship to from Sweden to the USA.... complete waste :(

Hi NGM,

I know exactly how you feel, the same thing happened to me in January, I don't even like to think that my husband could be here by now.  The way we dealt with it was I booked a flight to go visit him and that helped make the time go faster.  I know not everyone is in a position to go visit their spouse abroad, but I found it helpful.  I would also contact your Congressman to see if they can assist with the timeline.  You can let them know the timeline you've been provided by NVC and how long it is actually taking.

Andy

Thank you Andy.

I guess you're still waiting for CC?

Totally understand.  Scan date will be reset but only by a week or so if you send on Monday - just get everything ready in the meantime (cover letter, bar code sheet, etc).  Also, please remember to write your case number on the upper right hand side of each document.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

Yep, translation was one page and actual local certificate was another stapled altogether with bar code sheet. Maybe they messed it up while removing staples. I really don't know.

Well I messed UP and my package hasn't even arrived at the NVC. Sweds dont have a "birth certificate" they have a tax document that has all their personal info. There are multiple versions and I thought I had the right one......However..... I found out today I send the wrong one!!

I called the NVC and they said they did not get my package (of course, i just sent it yesterday). I asked about sending in the correct form and they said to do it asap with a cover sheet.

Have any of you send in a corrected document BEFORE getting a check list? Did it go ok ? I am fearful they will lose a few "loose" papers...

Yes send it! When we called on a Thursday and were informed we had a checklist my husband sent the required document the very next day before even getting the email to say we had a checklist. It just saves time and hopefully gets the waiting time started.

Hope it works out for you!

What exactly did the checklist say?  To provide a police certificate for a particular country?  I am asking because we had also received a checklist for a police certificate.

Thanks! I dont know about you but this is easily one of the most stressful and draining things I've done in my life. I hope that my additional/fix document doesn't some get there before my AOS/IV package.... that might generate a checklist for EVERYTHING.  What did you get a checklist for ?

Well, 1st page of check list is general info saying that either you're asked to bring it to interview or send it to NVC, in my case it is latter. 2nd page is the bar code sheet I've got to include. 3rd page is divided into two parts "Correspondence Instructions" and "Police Certificate" for my country where instructions are copied from instructions on their web site i.e. local specifics of obtaining certificate. It says not to confuse court certificate with police one, whether original would be requested on interview etc. etc. I went through that million times and there's nothing new stated.

They just claim they didn't get it rather than it's invalid or something. I put the damn document in the envelope myself!

What was your story with police certificate?

No I didn't put name and case number in the upper right hand corner because I didn't want them to consider documentation as "altered" and reject it. I just stapled bar code sheet on every document set.

Police certificate is was 2-page document (3-page with bar code sheet), first one is translation and second one is actual local police statement where on both pages my first and last name is loud and clear.

I don't know if it's smart to send to sets of everything, they might deem that as invalid, who knows.

Scan date: 01/17/2017

I had the same concerns so I'll be using removable Avery labels.  As for the two sets...I don't know...still contemplating.  Figured I'd just put one set in clear sleeve  in a huge envelope and just write in huge letters "EXTRA COPY."  Anyone else have any thoughts?

Omg let me tell you it is and it's been like that since October!!! We started on a 4 week wait then it moved to 6, then 8 and then we got a checklist on jan 18th Because my husband 'apparently'forgot to put his name on the affidavit of support. Only God knows if it's true so basically since the 25/01 we have been waiting and on our 8th week (where it can be forwarded for a supervisor review) they told us that the timings had changed. Honestly they told my husband as I refused to speak to them as id just end up getting upset and crying, (as sad as it sounds .. yes its got to that point. It's gets so frustrating and disappointing that you can't help be upset from being 1000 miles away), saying that though I just take it as it comes and pray big time!!

Hang in the Hun, hopefully soon enough we will all get there. Just got keep each other going!!!!

I did not send in a police certificate for a country where I lived for more than 12 months, so they needed that as well (I only sent in one from my country of origin).  When responding I included the following:

Cover letter with a list of documents that were included in the correspondence:

* Copy of checklist letter

* Bar code cover sheet

* Original police certificate in local language

* Translated police certificate in English

* Certificate of accuracy from agency who translated the document

The case number was written on the top right hand corner on each page (including cover page).  Did you speak with a supervisor?

Not even at scan date yet.  Just got my NOA2 in the mail, dated 3/16 so I'm hoping it'll go fast.

Seems like they updated the London consulate instructions recently with this pretty new document too: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/LND - London.pdf

Outta curiosity, varicella is a required vaccine but I don't think it's offered in the UK.  Any suggestions?

I had the same concerns so I'll be using removable Avery labels.  As for the two sets...I don't know...still contemplating.  Figured I'd just put one set in clear sleeve  in a huge envelope and just write in huge letters "EXTRA COPY."  Anyone else have any thoughts?

We did not staple every single thing but, we sent in only one set of documents fastened together via a two hole (top) paper fastener as seen below.  We also included a cover sheet with a bulleted list of documents that were included so they can know the order of the documents and know where to look for something in particular.  I would not advise to send in two sets of documents.
