Thank You

Good luck on your NVC process!

Do we need to furnish pictures to be put in with the supporting documents?

& do we need to explicitly mention the case number on each document?

You should have included pictures in your I-130 petition; NVC would have those documents now. I did not send more pictures at the NVC stage; I took a binder full of pictures for the interview and they never asked to see any :).

And yes, include the case number on each document.  You should be sending in photocopies of civil documents so write the case number on top of each document, in particular the civil documents.  It is okay to send in original civil documents, but there's always a risk that they are misplaced.

Ok I think I'm reading too much into this document cover sheet.  For petitioner civil documents  besides my passport do I have to include my birth certificate, divorce decree, and marriage certificate as well

As a heads up, for Georgetown embassy, they will ask for both petitioner's and applicant's *original* birth certificates for the interview.  In my humble opinion, it is always better to front load your application so yes, I would include copies of birth certificate of both petitioner and applicant, divorce decree of both (if applicable), marriage certificate, and police certificate of applicant (including police certificate from any countries where she or he lived for at least 12 months from age 16).

Hello Everyone,

I have been a regular visitor to this blog to get information, hope, strength and updates regularly for last 2 months. Today I got my CC so thought it must share my timeline with others,

Scan Date: 9th of January 2017

Case Sent to Review Department: 6th of March 2017

Case Completed: 21st of March 2017 (however, just spoken to NVC and they said it was completed late yesterday, the 20th of March)

Now starts the wait for Interview and approval but I believe the hard part is over.

Best of luck to everyone who is waiting for their CC and keep sharing.

:)

Interview process is the smoothest part for most :)

With a heart filled with joy i announce, that i now have a CC, after 13 weeks at NVC and 3 weeks shy of 2 years since the beginning of this process.

Long post alert!!!

I got a checklist about 3 weeks back for our birth certificate, based on the US dept of state, we shouldn't have got the checklist as the submitted docs were acceptable as alternate docs.

When i got the checklist, i came on here, to lament and seek advise and encouragement. This had somehow become a home of sorts to cope with the stress of this whole process. Unfortunately, i didn't get the advise or input i needed, as only one person commented on my situation. I was somewhat discouraged, but i do understand that everyone is dealing with their individual situation and may not have had the time to comment. Ya''ll, a checklist is a very lonely and depressing place. Let's encourage anyone with a checklist.

I'm sharing this, because it may help someone, i don't wish a checklist on any one, but things do happen, as some NVC staff are sometime not knowledgeable, as was with my case.

Basically, i've spent the past 3 weeks disputing and fighting the checklist as i was not going to send in a new doc and get a new scan date putting me back at the tail end of the queue. Even my attorney advised i do that, but i refused and instructed him not to send in any docs (What do they know), lol?

Anyways, i called NVC na d quoted the US Dept of state website, which got their attention and they agreed to do another review of my file. I didn't stop there i also, emailed NVC and explained why my birth certificate is acceptable, i also included a screenshot of the website with the list of acceptable docs, and re-attached the said birth certificate. I did all of this PRAYERFULLY.

Guess what, when i called back a few days later, i was told i had a new scan date because they received new docs for me. What??? I called in and requested for a supervisor, who said the same thing. I calmly explained it was not possible as neither my lawyer or myself sent in new docs. I kept calling on a daily basis and requested that they pull my file and tell me what new docs was received. Finally, after speaking with a supervisor again, i was told that a supervisor had requested my file for another review on Friday, as at yesterday morning they were waiting to receive the file from "the other department" and this morning when i called  to find out i have a CC and my file was in queue for an interview date at my embassy. Hopefully April dates will still be available. The rep told me she hasn't been informed that they were done with April scheduling.

I am soo overjoyed and just relieved to be done with NVC. I will now patiently wait for my interview date.

Speaking with supervisors do help, speak calmly and respectfully but firmly ask for what you want and oh the best time to get a supervisor easily is at 7am or from 9pm in the evening, (the later the better). I'm glad that my case ended with good news. Sorry for the long post, hopefully, it helps someone.

Happy to hear that your case is complete.  We also had received a checklist and it was for something very simple, but at that time we did not join this forum so we were basically naive through the whole thing.

Probably silly question.  I got my case number/invoice # on Tuesday.  I filed the DS-261 that day.  Two days later, I got the email from NVC and logged in to pay the AOS.  That's done and shows as pending.  However, I don't have the option to select the next form to pay.

Is it normally a delay between being able to pay the AOS and the IV?

When I check case status, it tells me:

U.S. Department of State
IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION
Action required: Complete Form DS-260

But I don't have any option to select the DS-260 to fill out anywhere.

Yes you have to wait until the AOS fee clears then you will be able to pay the IV fee. then after that clears the DS-260 will be opened for you.

From what I've heard, there is a slight delay.  If there's extensive delay, you can try contacting the NVC to review your DS 261 over the phone and for a status update. IV Bill needs to reflect "PAID" to unlock the DS-260 form.

You can use the NVC Process doc in my signature for timelines and flow :)

I'm tired of NVC. My 8 weeks completed today. I called them and they said that now it's taking 11 weeks. I'm very frustrated right. Now. Next thing you know they changed it to 15 weeks. Please tell me what steps to take. I told them I want to talk to the supervisor and there were no supervisor. She said, one of the supervisor will call you back today. She said that Supervisor will see the same screen as us and they wont be able to do anything. What should I tell the supervisor when I get the call?

My scan date is January 18 (9 weeks and 1 day today) and still waiting. I am in supervisor review though. Even though I submitted my documents before they changed the time frame to 8 weeks from 6 weeks, they still had me wait 8 weeks to put the case in supervisor review.  My cousin had to wait over 12 weeks for a CC. Hopefully neither of us will have to wait that long. I am praying for all January filers to get a CC by the end of this month.  They are working 2nd week of January cases from what I can guess.

I understand your frustration. Hang in there. Any day now.

it is ridiculous when they said 8 weeks but really took everyone at least 10 weeks. please hang in there, wait for the supervisor's call i guess...

Claudia you are absolutely correct. I am not happy about the time frame changing to 11 weeks but, hey at least its a bit realistic. 6-8 weeks was a complete JOKE !!! Scan date January 18 ( 9 weeks 1 day today ) no CC.

It has been taking 10-12 weeks for most of the cases I see around here.
