Question for anyone that has recently talked with the NVC.... What was the processing time you were quoted?

I have been dealing with NVC since November. I was originally quoted 4 weeks, then 6, then 8... now I have seen mention of 11?!

What have you guys heard recently?

10- 12 weeks currently. Providing you don't get a check list.

Mine took 10 weeks + 1 day exactly with no check list.

Thanks much Tanish!

My husband has filed for an extension and would furnish 4868 as proof for the most recent tax year - 2016. After I have my returns filed in India; he would file his "Married filing jointly" with my application for ITIN.

Also, it states on travel.state.gov that we can as well submit a copy of 4868 as proof for most recent tax year with 2016's W2. So going ahead with it!

I am sure it will work because it is stated on the website. :) Thanks for all the information that you shared.

Good. So, now you just have to wait until the business with 4868 is finished before sending your AOS and IV packages, right?

Hi

After reading this I got a little confused.. was just wondering that my Husband can file it as single right??

though we were married by the end of 2016. We are filling i864ez.

Your spouse shouldn't file as "single" if you were married in 2016. It may create an issue at the time of interview.

@Tanish@Raag@amistry18...have you all submitted the docs to NVC in 2 packages?

We clipped all the relevant documents for AOS and IV separately, but sent them in the same package.

I feel your pain my friend! We sent our package back in mid November but the package wasn't scanned until MID December so then we waited and waited and got a checklist in January (18th I think)..  because my husband 'apparently' forgot to put him name in the AOS form? So we resent and new scan date was  25/01 so then it went from a 4 week wait to a 6 week, 8 week and on our 8th week it's now changed to 11weeks wait!! Honestly I'm so tired of it, refused to call as I end up getting mad then upset! Tried to call and speak to supervisor (no matter how nice an polite I am) still get the same response that 'there bot avaliable' . So I've given up and left it. My Husband has contacted his local congressman's office and requested they contact NVC regarding our case? Duno if it will definitely help but many have said it can help speed it?  Maybe you could give it a try??

Woah.... Did you get a checklist ?

No i didnt. But it is for a R5 visa so maybe that's why it took a bit longer? Regardless, they told me at nvc it should take the same amount of time as visa R1 and it took 2 supervisor reviews and 5.5 months of wait. good luck to you though.
