You can just file as "Married filing saperately" (this requires you to paper file 1040). When you reach US, you can amend 2016 return to "Married filing jointly". This is way more easier and quick.

What I have heard is when your partner is filing for the first time since marriage, they would have to file jointly..to get the ITIN etc.,

 

I will ask my husband to check with the CPA again.

anyone else having issues with the CEAC site today?  I've removed cache files and history and tried again but getting an error saying the page can't be found.

my scan date was the 19th and last Monday when I called in I was told I was moved to review department, but then when I called in Friday the rep told me it still wasn't complete and followed to say she would send to supervisor to get my case going. She said it can maybe take up to 6 weeks for them to finish the review but that didn't mean it would take that long. Ugh!! I'm probably going to call back  next week and ask to speak to a supervisor. Hopefully there's no set backs
