Hi all!

Hope everyone is holding up - i know this process can be heartbreaking and frustrating beyond words.

I'm lucky enough to be going through the NVC waiting game for a second time :) I got a checklist on Jan 10th and my new scan date is Jan 24th so I'm in the same boat as a lot of people here.

Some of you have asked what can be done to make things go faster and my recommendation is to contact your congressman.  I have seen posts in here that after someone contacts their congressman, they need to sign a privacy release form, and have the congressman send an inquiry to NVC.  It seems after this is done, things go pretty quickly.  I highly recommend this especially if you are past your 6-8 weeks from your scan date.

I sorted things out with my congressman aid and he told me last Thursday he would send an inquiry to NVC.  I will keep you guys up to date with how this goes!  We've been in the NVC process since October (6 months...) and sooooo ready to be done!

Andy

Hey Andy
When you say contact your congressman, do you mean the congressman of the state you'll be in when you're in the US, or a congressman here in New Zealand?  Would love for you to PM me and chat further about it. I'm at 6 weeks today (and have an email from them saying "please allow us 6 weeks to review your paperwork" which made me hopeful, but alas no CC.  I'm on a bit of a tight timeframe as we have a wedding to be at in the US, so I'm keen on whatever helps to kick them into processing my paperwork in a timely manner.

Got married: 26th Sep 2013

I-130 Petition Process:

Sent petition to USCIS Chicago lockbox (via in-laws to put check in US$): 11 Mar, 2016

NOA1: 24 Mar, 2016 (email notification 30 Mar. Hardcopy 11 Apr)

Service Centre: NEBRASKA

NOA2: 3rd Aug 2016

Petition sent to NVC: 18th Aug 2016

NVC Stage

Case number assigned: 8th Sep 2016

Paid AOS Fee: 9th Sep 2016

Paid IV Fee: 14th Sep 2016

DS-260 submitted: 25th Jan 2017

AOS & IV Package sent: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite requested: 25th Jan 2017

Expedite approved (consulate only): 1st Feb 2017

Scan Date: 31st Jan 2017

Case Complete: 14th April 2017 (10 weeks 4 days)

Full expedite approved (bypass NVC to send file to embassy), however too late as I already had case complete 17th Apr 2017

Case arrived at Embassy: 21st April 2017

P4 letter received: 26th April 2017 (expedite at embassy stage so this came from the consulate, not NVC)

Medical date: 26th April 2017

Interview date: 4th May 2017 APPROVED!!

Visa received: 8th May 2017

I agree with you it isn't fair also how they say "up to 8 weeks" when this is our 16th week waiting already and no answers!! We have to stay positive and have hope during this long and frustrating process because once it is over we don't have to do this again ??

I guess whats not fair is that people are still getting through this process in just a few weeks.    Met some of my Japanese friends this weekend and one of them was saying that 3 of her friends got married in Japan and got their Visa to come to the US after just a few weeks.

Hearing that makes me angry and dumbfounded and curious about where the loophole in the process is.  If I applied from Japan - would I have gotten everything done faster?   All these thoughts running through my head because no-one can give me the 500 days that we lost back to us.

Really?? how is that even possible? what visa was it? Was it on a Tourist Visa? I can only imagine that coming in a few weeks!!

For those of you who have successfully gotten through to a supervisor, what are you supposed to say when you speak to them? Do you simply ask them to review your case? I'm thinking of asking for a supervisor if I don't hear anything by Friday, since that will be the 9-week mark for us...

I hear your frustrations.  I moved from Australia to New Zealand during this process, and after changing all the details with USCIS and then NVC I found out that Australia has EP.  I wish I'd stayed with that consulate and just flown back for an interview ... I'd be approved by now and have my visa in hand I'm sure!
I just have to trust that Gods timing is for a reason, and pray that NVC has a speedy few weeks at work and gets through lots of applications.

Hi fellow VJ'ers.  Posting here as I did a separate post but no one replied, so I thought I'd ask in our NVC forum.

Firstly let me say I understand how frustrating it is for all of you waiting, NVC are not exactly speedy.   I've contacted them by email to get confirmation of my paperwork arriving, and spoke to them on the phone, and one of my email responses said "please allow us up to 6 weeks to review your paperwork".  So because I have it in writing from them, I intended on contacting them when I hit 6 weeks from my scan date.   The email was sent to me when they'd already updated their website to 8 weeks.

That 6 week date passed today.

We have an approved expedite for when it goes to the consulate, to get an interview scheduled right away rather than waiting for the "scheduling week" and I was really hoping the NVC stage would be timely.  In 7 weeks my husband needs to be in the USA as he's in a wedding, and if I don't have my greencard then, I can't travel there with my daughter.  My husband would have to travel all the way back to New Zealand just for my interview at quite a cost.  Therefore as you can imagine, we really want to get through the interview and receive my visa (and book flights) to get us all there by early May.

I'm wondering though .. I have two options.
1)  Contact NVC and ask where it's at given its been 6 weeks, and quote the email and date they advised me of that timeline.  This may push it into "supervisor review"
2)  Wait til 8 weeks as per their website and then do the above.

I'm wondering what your opinion is (especially if someone has been through it before).  If i do option 1, do I risk it going into ANOTHER queue? The queue for supervisor review, and therefore pushing the time out to a further 6 weeks?  If that's the case, I'm wondering if its best to just sit here and wait, and be hopeful that 8 weeks is the new 10-12 weeks we were hearing about so much.

Really?? how is that even possible? what visa was it? Was it on a Tourist Visa? I can only imagine that coming in a few weeks!!

A Japanese person just needs to register in ESTA and they can travel to the US for 90 days on the Visa-waiver program.  They said green card, and it wasn't the green card lottery so I can only assume it was the IR-1/CR-1 and I confirmed that it was recent because I know already a few years ago it did only take but a few short months to complete all this with the Embassy.
