Can someone tell me an example of a checklist.  In trying to be proactive waiting for my case #.

Here is an excerpt from the NVC wiki here on VisaJourney:

Avoiding Checklists

Here are a few common checklist items I see all the time:

-Use the correct numbers on the I-864/I-864EZ for past year's incomes. As it states RIGHT IN THE QUESTION, if you filed a 1040 (or 1040A), then use total income, and if you filed a 1040EZ, then use adjusted gross income. If you filed jointly, then make sure you use the combined income (since it doesn't separate the incomes) and then submit W2s to show individual income.

-Although the I-864 instructions say if the answer is none or N/A, then to leave it blank, do NOT do this. I have seen countless people get checklists for leaving things blank, specifically the question asking for place of residence on the I-864EZ. Although it says to fill it out only if it's different from the mailing address, I have seen dozens and dozens of people getting checklists for leaving it blank.

-Make sure every single question has been filled out. I quite frequently see people get checklists for skipping a question. Please take your time reviewing the form. And make sure everything is dated and signed.

-After printing out the forms, double check again that everything is filled out properly. I've heard that sometimes after printing, a box that was checked on the computer gets unchecked after it's printed. If this happens to you, just check it off by hand.

False vs. Real Checklists

If you sent the packages, then get a checklist asking for one of the packages, just ignore it; it's a false checklist. Please understand that as soon as NVC reviews a package, they very frequently generate a checklist for the other package, without even checking if they have it in the building first.

The only time a checklist is real (and not false) is if it asks for something very specific missing in a package (like a police certificate, for example). If it asks for something general, like the entire package, then you can assume it's false. Call up an operator at NVC to confirm either way.

It can be a number of document(s) that NVC needs in order to complete your case.  I have seen folks in these forums receive checklists for incorrect birth certificate (some countries have "long" and "short" birth certificates), missing police certificate (you have to submit police certificate for all countries that the applicant lived from age 16), missing translated copies of documents that are in a language other than English, missing divorce decree, missing tax transcripts for the last 3 years, missing page of AOS (submit all pages of all documents), etc etc.  Good to be proactive!

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents

from the scan date, it varies, as for them recently, please follow up after 8 weeks of scanned date, there are some that are lucky that it only took 4 weeks for them, however it could be much longer, if that's the case you may ask for the supervisor, or a state senator's help

Their system is sometimes funny. I got an email on the 02/27 that my case was sent to the NVC. Then on the morning of the 02/28 I got an email that on Feb 28, they approved my i130 which made no sense to me. How could they send it to NVC and then approved it the next day. I knew it was because the expedite caused some input issues. However, when I got my approval letter in the mail it was dated 02/24 which means my case was approved about 4 days before I was notified. Congrats though on your approval!

If God takes us to it, He'll bring us through it. He'll never take us where His grace cannot reach and keep us

Hi all!

Congratulations to all who get their CC!

It has been 10 weeks since NVC received all the documents... When we emailed them - we get response like: please wait due case overload at this time... I haven't seen my husband for months, my life is on hold....

Does anybody know what is the maximum time NVC can process documents?

Just checked the status of my AOS and IV payments and both show as "PAID". Now just the DS-260 and submission of the documents and we are good to go. With electronic processing it should go quickly. It is interesting that the page says  "Once received, it will take the NVC 2 to 4 weeks to review your case."

Wondering if that is just their standard answer, because in most of the mail processing cases I am seeing in this thread they are taking 12 weeks or more in a lot of cases. The 2-4 weeks seems more what it would take for electronic processing. The NVC website states up to 8 weeks, so they are really all over the place with those dates it looks like.
