Hye guys! It's wonderful to know ya'll experiences. I have a silly short question:D!! Can I send original civil certificate to NVC so my spouse don't have to bring that specific document (yes, I mean marriage certificate) during interview? I have original marriage certificate with me and don't want to risk it in the snail mail. Any thoughts?

Do not send original to NVC. They punch everything you send them. It will ruin your docs. Also if you're worried about mail, I can assure you that if you use FedEx, BlueDart or any other reputed courier service, it will be delivered safe and sound in less than a week.

I agree with @Tanish I would not suggest submitting them to the NVC. They've asked for copies, so why send originals. God forbid, you don't want them to lose anything. If you send copies, at least you still have the originals. As for the original marriage certificate, did you not get 2 originals from the Municipal office? If you only have 1 & it's here in US with you, you can send that & all other required originals via FexEx, BlueDart, DTDC, or other courier service. They're very reliable. I think FedEx has a flat-rate envelope you can send to India for $60.

Anyone else have a near December 6th scan date? I'm currently on week 13.

@mmadd636 Mine is right after yours, & I'm still waiting. My week 13 will start next week; well technically tomorrow but they're closed, so next week.

I tried calling & inquiring as well, but kept on being told 'thank you for being patient, but we're backlogged & have received a lot of mail around that time, so we're going through them as we received them'.

This is seriously getting too much now! I swear if I don't hear anything by early next week, they're gonna hear from me!!! :ranting:

Hi everyone, I have a brief question about order of things because the guides confused me.

Case received at NVC Feb 27, 2017

Case number and invoice number received March 3, 2017 (I called to find out).

As as soon as I got these numbers, I went in and completed the choice of agent. When will the aos and iv bills come online? I haven't received a letter from nvc yet, but just went ahead with the numbers I had. From the guides, it seems like the ds 261 should become available with the aos fee? But I could only fill out the ds261. Am I jumping the gun too much?

Did you print out the DS260 confirmation page? While we were waiting, I would call and the representative asked if  the DS260 was completed.  I did yes, I have the confirmation. I was told the DS260 is not reviewed until the entire package is reviewed.   Our case was completed in exactly 8 weeks.

Keep calling to check the status. Tell them it has been 14 weeks and you would like to speak with a Tier 2 representative. Stay calm and tell them you are just trying to understand the process because it has been so long. Hopefully you will get a favorable outcome soon.
