Hi everyone. I hope you all are having a nice weekend.

I called NVC last week to see if we've been scheduled an interview date yet. No luck such yet. I was told to call back during the first week of April and see if we've been scheduled for May. Does anyone know when they usually begin scheduling for the next months interview... is it really in the beginning of April or will they begin at the end of March (this coming week)? Is there any point to call this week and check?

Thanks.

It's usually a few days before the end of the month.  Good luck with your interview date!

As it was last month many people start calling last days of the month and write here if they have appointments.

So I will just wait for appointment posts here and call after at least 1-2 of them :)  Ok, I'll also call Thursday anyway.

Thursday-Friday or Monday-Tuesday should bring us some updates.

Hey  guys, so this is kind of long, but I have a question. Okay so I am currently living in Palestine with my husband and we are waiting for his papers to come out. I was born and raised in America my whole life. We got married August 10, 2015 and I left back to the states soon after. I was in college and wanted to study that year. In may, I came back to Palestine to be with my husband thinking his papers wouldn't be long. Skip forward a couple of months and here we are. Both of us are living in Palestine and I am currently 3 months pregnant. We got our case complete on 3/16 and are waiting for an interview. The thing is, here in my town, there are about 3 different guys who have gone to their interviews and have been placed on administrative processing for about 2/3 months so far. There is a man here who told us to make sure we don't get put on administrative leave, I need to go back to America. My question is, do you guys think that is true? I really wanted to go back together and would prefer not to leave my husband again. At the same time, I can't fly after month 7 so we need everything to be done by beginning of July. I don't know what to do. Any advice/ tips would help! Thank you!

@Diana94 I am not sure if the petitioner's place of stay has a bearing on whether the applicant is placed on AP or not. I applied for my parents back in 2015 and, after their interview, they were put on AP even though I was in the U.S. at the time. The fact that applicants are being put on AP in your area might have to do with the fact that it is a sensitive area, and the embassy officials may need to perform additional security checks before they issue the visa.

In case of my parents, the AP process began in September and visas were issued by the end of December (same year). Best of luck for your case! I hope you get the visa soon! :)

Yeah I agree. I mean I have only been here for less then a year so I wouldn't think that would have something to do with it. See I would think that is the case but a lot more have gotten their visas in a week or two. It's just recently I heard about these guys! I'm just trying to avoid the administrative process! Just praying for the best. Thank you, as do I !

Usually I call Monday evenings & Thursday evening or Tuesday evening & Friday evenings... I try not to call more than twice a week. But lately I've only called once a week. I'm thinking to call towards the end of the week... and maybe we will see others getting scheduled too.

Hope for you to get your interview date soon. :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy. :) I hope you guys don't get put on AP ,God Willing, and I also hope you a get your interview date so soon. :) I too worry about it for my husband, as many Egyptian Muslim men tend to get put on AP. Some cases I've seen the AP are very short and while others were very long. I don't think there is any sure way of knowing if one will be put on AP or not. But being Muslim (especially male) coming from the MENA region, risks are higher.  I also read once before that the type of employment one has, may also have an affect on whether you will be put on AP or not....? But I'm not entirely sure.

But what I mentioned above does not necessarily mean he will be placed on AP either. I saw several couples coming out of Egypt recently that were not placed on AP, except that they had to provide additional documents, and once that was completed they received their visa's after about 2-3 weeks . So a lot will depend on your embassy and your case, as it's really a case by case scenario. Not everyone will be treated exactly the same.

We're still waiting for Ahmed to get scheduled for his interview as well and we too are living together. I too hope he's not place on AP, God Willing.

Aw thank you! Yeah I guess you're right, I didn't think it would have anything to do with it but I just wanted to be sure. My husband works in a bank so I don't think that would count for ap. Hopefully not. And hopefully everything works out for you also! I will keep you guys in my prayers! Hope everything goes your way! Thanks for the answer!!

You're welcomed Diana. I pray for you a healthy pregnancy and baby, and an easy interview without AP. God Willing you guys won't and if so not long. Stay positive and enjoy the remaining time you guys have together in his country with his family.

@thegreatphoenix If your husband and mother-in-law filed their taxes already, your husband can prepare an updated I-864 showing 2016 income and you can take in the updated I-864 (AOS) and copy of the 2016 income tax return.  Note that the 2016 tax transcript may not yet be available, so 2016 tax return should suffice.

If they have not yet filed taxes, definitely take the "old" I-864 that was submitted to NVC (all pages including signature pages) plus the recent 2016 W2s as @parsha did.

Thank you both so much for your suggestions!

Duncan21, you said you brought your income tax return for 2016 and an ammended 2015, but you didn't mention about bringing an updated I-864 reflecting the 2016 taxes.

I can now bring both my husband's and MIL's updated 2016 income tax returns (Form 1040), as well as my MIL's W2s and recent payslips on top of the 6 months' worth of payslips we frontloaded in our I-130. However, it will already be impossible to get an updated and signed I-864 for MIL. My husband files taxes but we are abroad so he earns foreign income so our financial sponsorship pretty much rests on MIL.

Would it be enough to bring the updated tax returns, W2s, and payslips but not any updated I-864s?

I did bring an updated I-864 reflecting 2016 taxes to the interview, but they never asked for it.  In any event, I think you will be fine taking the updated tax returns, payslips, W2s and the "old" I-864 that you submitted to NVC with all pages, including the signature page.

I-130 (for parents of US Citizens):

8/19/2022: NOA (IOE0917XXXXXX); Texas Service Center

7/22/2023: Both (parents) petitions approved

7/27/2023: Both cases sent to NVC

8/8/2023: Received NVC welcome email for both parents
