Did you get a paper notice? Is it identical to the previous one?

I did my fingerprints on 3/28, then radio silence till now (not even in line) and today I got this notice with a new fingerprint date of 8/15. L2 officer said to go there and show them the first notice with the 3/28 stamp. No idea why I'm being asked to redo the FP and I'm worried that this is going to drag on for years now.

Please let us know what they tell you once you show up for the appointment. It could be that previous fingerprints were not 100% reliable, or they just lost them somehow, with so many changes in processing systems going on right now it is possible to loose track of them.

Yes it is possible that the first fingerprints that were done did not get captured right.

But it should not take soooo long for them to determine this.

Exactly, and there are 2 issues here:
1. it shouldn't take 4 months to figure out that the FPs were bad quality
2. an L2 officer told me to just send a copy of the previous receipt to the FO to show that I already did the FPs and not show up for the new appointment. (How stupid would that be? Of course I'm going to show up for the new appointment, I'm not going to take a chance to screw up my case even more.)

Yeah you should. Sorry that your case is not on the right track but it will be eventually. Best of luck.

Apparently someone forgot to attach my fp results to my case...(latest L2 officer). I'll just show up there and ask to speak to a supervisor and hopefully they'll fix it. If not I'll just redo the FPs, no big deal. The office is 10 mins away from my place anyway; it's just frustrating that people don't do their job properly when handling sensitive stuff like this.

Hi guys,

I might be moving to a different state soon and I have a couple of questions:

1. If I move with the interview already scheduled do I have to re-schedule to go a different location?

2. Does the scenario above apply to Oath Ceremony as well?

No need to worry. Repeated FP are likely required when fingerprinting was not done right (eg. fingerprints are smudged, and this wasn't detected at capture time) or when there is a potential match with another fingerprint in db and gov. wants to make sure the person in db is not you.

You won't wait years - you have Priority Case that'll always prioritize your case when scheduling interview and oath. FP are digitally captured, transmitted and analyzed - in matter of hours or few days. Manual review is likely if match is found.

If you are early filler (90 dies),  you'll be placed in-line for interview scheduling only(!) when you are at least 30 days away from your GC anniversary.

1. No.

2. No.

You will have your interview and oath in the locality where you spent >=90 days immediately prior to signing and sending your application.

I suppose you've done FP already. If you haven't, FP is the ONLY step in N-400 that can be done in any ASC across the country, on a walk-in basis..

The only caveat I would add is that at the time of your interview the immigration officer may ask you to verify your current address while going through the N-400 application. In my case he even asked separately if I still lived at my current address and if it was a house or an apartment.

Once you give the IO your new address, they may decide to transfer your case to the new Field Office (assuming your new address does not fall under same FO) for the oath ceremony or may let you continue with the same FO. You may or may not have a say in it.

Sorry for listing hypothetical scenarios. Someone with direct experience with similar situation may be able to provide more concrete answers.
