Paint me RED! Today I officially became a United State citizen...ending my almost 11 years journey as a perm resident.

My ceremony took place at a historical museum, I was told only bring one guest. We had to report for 9 am. At approximately 9 am we were let into the building. The line was very long. There was no search done on anyone. When we got inside there were two tables with three people sitting on each... If your last name falls between A to C you joined that line etc. I had the back of my form already filled out and hand lady my gc. She asked if I have any other IDs, I told her no. She then searched for my certificate in a huge binder and gave me a paper with my name on it...this paper had where I was supposed to sit ( aisle a, b, c, and what row etc). I was then given a gift bag with some souvenirs ( i didn't look inside but I think its books about the museum, passport form, flag etc)

According to my invite, my ceremony was a "special naturalization oath event". which started around 11 am with the National guards ( US Customs and Border Protection) marching on stage to start off ceremony. Followed by the national anthem and welcome remarks by the director of USCIS from Northeast region, and board of trustee NY historical society.

People from 59 countries were sworn in--- I think I am only one from my country. When our countries name was called we were to stand and remain standing. A speech was then given by one of the Supreme Justice. To which we later took the oath and pledge allegiance, followed by going on stage to receive our certificates.

The most time was spent before the ceremony ...I think the reason was they were waiting for people to come in...

Nevertheless...I am done. The master of the ceremony told us to wait two weeks before we go to our district SS office. Tomorrow I am applying for my passport.

To all the others who are still waiting... your time will soon come...everything will soon fall into place. We have to be patient and keep the faith. for me, at times it seems overbearing but only God knows... Today it is approximately one year and 28 days since I filled.  Bless you all.

Hey guys,

Quick question regarding the interview.

are the IRS Tax transcripts good enough ? they are only a couple of pages each compared to the whole return file.

thank you

I printed my tax transcript from the  IRS website. Just make sure you select the option for immigration purpose. I did not have any issue.  Goodluck

Thank you for the reply.

When I select the immigration purpose, It only gives me 4 years back. I guess I could print the full return for the fifth year.

The IO only asked me for the last 3 years.

she said 3 years is good enough.

Good luck!

If you don't mind I have one more question, how many people approximately were taking their oath with you there? I am trying to get a sense of whether they hold large ceremonies in the court to decide within the next few days whether to change my name or not. Also, do you happen to know how often do they schedule judicial ceremonies? Thank you!

@MahUSA Sorry for the late reply - Total of 74 people was naturalized at my ceremony, don't remember any mentioning on how many countries were being represented.

The courtroom is not that big, it's fairly small in my opinion. I guess not that many people seek the name changes but I could be wrong.

Based on my knowledge, I believe judicial ceremonies are held monthly at the Alexandria Court.

Feel free to refer to my experience on the top of page 177.

If you decide to change your name and end up going to Alexandria court, there's a parking garage right across from the court, park there! It's USPTO West Parking Garage, and leave your phones in the car. :)

Some people parked at the meter and had to step outside to feed the meter before the ceremony began, it's not that great when you have to pass the security again. so... park in the garage!

Thank you, that was really helpful!! I'll definitely remember that when it's time for me to go!! Too bad that cameras and cell phones are prohibited tho, I've always wanted to take pictures that day, but I guess it is what it is lol..

Hey guys just got done with the interview.
Long Short story short: I got approved thank God :) . And the oath ceremony is on Monday.
Here is the long story and the interview  experience:

I arrived 45 minutes ahead ( my appointment was at 10:45). I was told I couldn’t check in yet and had to wait 15 minutes. There were about 40 people The waiting area. After waiting, I got checked in and was given a number. There were two doors on the opposite sides of the rooms and people were getting called by name. I finally got called in at noon. The officer was very polite and nice. He asked for my green card and ID and passport. Took pictures and fingerprints .He asked me to stand up raise my hand and swear to tell the truth and went through my application line by line
Then we did   Did  The Civics test ( 6 questions)
If the president and vice can’t serve who will serve instead.
We elect senators for how many years
How many justices
Who is the speaker of the house
What is the role of the cabinet
Name one government branch.

Then he congratulated me and said they were trying to schedule  people for oath ceremony as soon as possible. He gave me a couple of dates. I chose the soonest, which is this coming Monday the 16th.

I’m so excited and I praying the rest of you guys will get through this soon.

Thank you all for the help.

Hello march17 filers,

It’s  been a long journey but it’s finally over. Paint me red as I became a U.S citizen today. The ceremony was at the Denver public library downtown, so much better than at the local office and 41 countries were represented.Senator Bennett couldn’t be there but his letter was read.I don’t know what happened to my previous entries but if anyone can help add the dates 1/29 interview set for 3/5 and 3/23 oath set for 4/12.Good luck to anyone still on this journey.
