After talking several times with Tier 2 officers and nothing more than that the case is still in the NBC.

I reached out for the congressman and they inquired on my behalf, the NBC responded that the case is still pending Background check.

I really don't know what to do at that point as my finger prints was taken 6 months ago though the background check is not done yet.

what's really frustrating that my cousin applied 3 months later and she has completed her interview and in line for oath ceremony.

 

Can anyone give me an advice on what shall i do next to get this moving?

I was in a similar situation up to mid-august and my next step was to have an attorney write them a letter, if you're willing to spend some $ on this...then I received a 2nd FP notice (don't ask LOL) and things got back on track.

this is exactly my predicament. My cousin and I applied together and she already naturalized and got her book... we did FP 2 days apart, the same FO... I am 6  months waiting post FP

Hello All,

 

I have completed my interview today and I was recommended for approval. In  fact, I have received an oath letter for October 27th, the letter was given 20 minutes after my interview. Since my wife did not accept the first oath date she has been offered, I did not want to go down the same path and wait for a letter from NBC. The fact that the first available date was in 2 weeks was convenient too, since there is enough time to give advance notice at work.

 

Short summary of my conversation with the immigration officer: after swearing that I will tell the truth we went quickly through reading and writing, followed by 6 civic questions. After that we went through N-400, the IO was curious whether I had any traffic tickets (I had one warning, but he was not interested). He also wanted to make sure I did not serve in Polish military forces. I did not, since I was excluded based on poor vision (well, just strong myopia, I see well in glasses). The oath date which is 2 weeks ahead was a small disappointment, since Raleigh makes oath ceremonies once every week, but all in all I was happy that I did not have to wait for approval, instead I was approved on the spot.

 

My impression is  that both my case and my wife's case went through more comprehensive background check and that's why the interview was pretty much only civic questions and not much of anything else. Also, what surprised me is that IO had very thin file of papers related to my case. Many people report seeing an inch-thick pile of documents on IO's desk.

In line for oath since 9/27 and counting...(interview 9/21), does it really take this long to schedule the oath in NYC?! I have travel plans for mid-November and I was hoping to be done by then.

Are you going abroad? The time right after oath is the worst possible for travel, since you loose your green card but you do not get any travel document immediately. Maybe NYC is easier since you have passport agency on-site.

Yes, I'm going out of the country but I'm willing to pay $ for an expediter (they can do it in 24 hours) if need be. My problem is not even knowing when the oath could be scheduled. Super frustrating since I'm *almost* there with this process, just not quite...

I think you can reschedule your oath with no problem, but it will delay the process a bit. You just need to have someone open letters for you as USCIS often gives less time of advance notice for oath, not like in case of an interview which is given 30 days ahead. But it is all field office specific issue. For example, my field office seems to routinely schedule oaths at interview.
