Dear All,

we are new to this wonderful message board!

We filed our I-751 a few weeks ago (VSC), our check got cleared just recently (no NOA yet) and we have today noticed one curious thing. Our bank makes it possible to review already processed checks online, so we downloaded a copy of our check and discovered that an USCIS receptionist (whoever does the preliminary processing) put a few notes in hand writing on the check:

Date of receipt

VT and some numbers (probably their facility's identification number or whatever)

EAC number (right on top of the check)

another EAC number right under the first one (the second number is different from the one on top)

Our first thought was that one of these numbers must be our receipt number for the I-130 petition that was filed ages ago, we checked our archive, but the I-130's receipt number is different. So, we are just wondering if anyone has any idea what is going on and why they put these 2 absolutely different numbers on the check?

Another curious thing, none of these numbers is working when we try to track them through their web site.

What is this all about? Has anyone had any similar experience?

Thanks!

We've had 3 different TSC numbers & I posted the following on this thread Case number from NOA, does your's work?:

So, it seems there are at least 3 different receipt #'s?

1st - back of check; 2nd - bio fee receipt; and 3rd - NOA's for appt. notice & ext. letter (same on both NOA's)...

1st & 2nd don't work on the online case status system and the 3rd works for some.

Is this correct, or is each service center different?

P.S. I do know that the 2nd (bio fee #) means something in the system on their end, since we didn't have it with us and it was still included for reference in my husband's passport stamp --- I thought they'd use the NOA #.

Thanks to everyone! So, you are saying there is nothing unusual about getting two different case numbers? I wonder why they do this though. Does anyone have any ideas?

Are you sure the number on the check was an official case number? I've always read on here that those don't work, and only the case numbers on the NOA are valid.

We are not sure, we are yet to receive our NOA1. But if neither of these numbers is an official case number, why would they put them on the check?

Who knows about their inner workings. Why not just wait for the NOA1 since those are what work? :)
