My wife is from Ozamiz City and when I travel there I feel somewhat safe, but if I listened to my wife I would land on OC go to h er house, never leave and then two weeks later get on the plane and go home. Not my style. I get out and explore. Love the PH.

Yeah that's totally not me either, I am like you I like going out and exploring. So I usually take the motorbike and go up into mountains driving, and I really like that even though there are NPA up there I do safe. I told my wife that next we go there we will take the mountain roads from her town to Maragusan. I have never been that far up and I really want to go.

i hope president duterte would also do something about the rebels in the southern part of the PH. this is very tragic and saddening :(

No he couldn't. He can only offer apology to the family of the people who got beheaded.

Philippines President Duterte apologized to Germany on Tuesday for his troops "failure" to prevent the killing.
"I am very sorry that the hostage, a national of your country, has been beheaded. There's a massive operation going on. We really tried our best. We have failed. That has to be admitted," he said.

The fight in Mindanao has been long back. So many presidents had been in office and none can ever fully eliminate it. Another group will replace another.

There has been many in Mindanao, Abu Sayyaff, NPAs, Moro National Liberation Front, Moro Islamic Liberation Front all seeking to be an independent country as it has always been before Spanish Colonization (1500s). The rebels are one of the many concerns of the country.

Heed some  warnings from the locals about where to go and where not to go. Most of them are forewarned about upcoming attacks.

I loved that city when I was there a couple years ago. I spent two nights there before we took a ferry to Camiguin Island. I have a friend of mine an old Amerikano living in CDO right now, and my wife's best friend lives there na as well.

It depends on the local NPA commander honestly. Some are really good and use the people they have to help maintain law and order. While others are more like the Mafia and want protection money/taxes. If you a business does not pay it then they come in to work one day and everything is burned down.
