There is a little bit of roasting from the audience and from the president as well. It's a tongue-in-cheek kind of humor. Most presidents rise to the occasion, because it is part of the tradition. Obama always did well, because of his ability to connect with the crowd. W was good at it too. He had good timing and knew how to deliver his lines. I dont think the country will miss much without Trump's sour face and murky Debbie-downer.

Murky Debbie-downer!!!

I am not going either.

Have you, or a person in the same position as you, attended every single year for the last 40+ years with only 1 exception?

No? Then none of us care.

As far as I can tell this is the first time a President since Truman has chosen to not attend (Truman just cancelled the whole thing), with the exception of Reagan recovering from a gunshot wound. Whether you care that he is attending or not, it is definitely news worthy and far more significant than your attendance. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You speak for everybody?

Call up a few papers and see who wants to report on your attendance at White House Correspondence Dinner.

Let me know how that goes.

EDIT: I guess I could be wrong if you are actually Trump posting on these forums

As I am not going, I doubt they would be interested.

You were not invited, hence they were not interested

It will be the end for the time the so-called president is in office. I think the country wins, because he doesn't need another platform for his anti-American rhetoric.

He is not the "so called" president. He is the president period whether you or the snowflakes like it or not. So wanting to secure our borders, bring our jobs back and making sure our troops have everything they need to do their job among other things is anti American? Only in the delusional snowflake fantasy land would those things be anti American.

I believe the "so called" phrasing was merely a reference to Trump's preference to use it against people he doesn't like. Particularly judges.

He is the so-called president, regardless of my opinion or yours. Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin all wanted all those things to the people of their country as well, so the current nationalist discourse coming from the so-called president and his administration is very much anti-American. You don't have to like it. All you need to is abide by the Constitution.

He IS the president. The actual genuine President.  Any student of history,  and I'm not speaking of the re-written variety, would understand that there is no comparison between the Hitler-ites of the pre WW11 world and Trump.

The election is over. The Dems lost. It might be nice for a change if they, and their supporters,  stopped whining and moaning, and actually did something useful. The way they are carrying on now practically cements the likelihood it will be many years indeed before they every win the top job again.

Speaking of which, that dinner is a pointless waste of time and money. Who ever is in the WH ought to have canned that stupidity years ago.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

What are your suggestions of things us snowflakes could do that is useful?

I am sincerely interested in your response.
