Hi, I recently received my advance parole card, and I am traveling for work next week outside the US. IS there anything else I should carry alongside my passport and advance parole? I'm worried in this climate I may have issues returning. Has anyone any experience with this?

thanks

tinku

I traveled with my EAD/AP combo card back home to Sweden in December 2016. I brought passport, combo card, marriage cert, NOA1 and Drivers License. Frankly, pretty much all I had. I didn´t really have any issues coming back, had to go through secondary screening which took about an hour but other then that it was really no problem.

I was on G-1. Left country with AP documents (2 copies) for 2 months. Returned through JFK in February. Presented passport and AP document. Officers were nice and polite. The first officer handed me to another officer in a waiting room. Cleared in 5 minutes.

Hey Tinku,

How did it go? My wife has to go back to Canada for a funeral and she's worried about coming back in since it'll be an extra trip she wasn't counting on. She already has to go home again in May so worried they won't like multiple trips but not sure...

Would love to know how it went?

hey tinku, i am also from the UK, pakistani family background, so not on the list of countries 'banned',
i received advanced parole the request i made was for travel for a wedding, however i dont know if that is the

ONLY reason i am allowed to travel to the UK now, say if i just want to make a visit to see family.
The reason im worried is because other people who have travelled on advanced parole have done so for sick

family members, work, funerals, and im not sure if some kind of evidence needs to be presented upon return?
I am also worried, my interview for green card is in a couple of weeks, and i dont know how long is takes until

you know you are approved for it and how long it takes to get sent.

all in all im worried myself especially if i will be travelling alone back, im here on k-1 visa.

I traveled on advance parole on three different occasions. Twice to the UK and once (by land) to Canada. No issues whatsoever. The only question was how long was I away from the United States. You do need to go to secondary with AP but that is a formality. Took less than 5 mins each time. There was no need to prove any reason for travel.

Have since gotten my green card and Global Entry so travel from now on should be as easy as it can get.

you dont have to strictly follow the reason you stated for AP. i didnt even list the reason when I apply and still got it. as long as you dont travel for a long period of time and travel when AP is valid, you'll be fine. some say they wont as for evidence and just ask how long have you been away. if you want to, prepare pictures of the weddings you attend but they probably wont ask.
if you know your interview date, its better to do the interview and see if you'll get approved. usually it takes 2 weeks after approval for your GC to be sent. if there's any extra problem that needs more time (Case wait to be review), you can use AP but i think it's best to wait for ur GC if ur that close already

Hello all--the AOS is taking a little longer than we expected so we are submitting (did not submit the advance parole with the AOS) the AP now. My wife would like to assist taking care of her father following his knee surgery. Do they typically grant these for the time you think you will be out of the country or is it for several months? Just wondering as she'd like to travel but not until February--at which time we may have the AOS done anyways.

Thanks!
