The downside to this approach, the lawyer said, is it can take 2x or even 2.5x longer to process than AOS inside the states  (depending on local office and embassies, of course).

His immigration attorney is handling it. He actually didn't come in a K1 visa. 

This is NOT the same process the OP described. The OP is using a K-1 visa, not a CR-1 visa.

 

While you can technically get a K-1 to enter, marry, then return home and get a CR-1 to enter again, this is a very roundabout, long, and unnecessary process. Just getting a CR-1 from the get-go would have been much simpler and far cheaper.

you can get individual insurance right as you step off the plane. since you are moving to the us.
