Apply for J1 Waiver from home country

Hi,

I am going to apply for the waiver but I am already back to my home country.

I am wondering if there is a problem if I apply from Brazil and ask my fiance (who is living in the US) to mail the money order and the documents for me. Since the letters from Brazil to US sometimes takes around 2-3 months to get there or never get there.

I already have the non-objection statement from my government.

Thank you in advance.

Just an FYI - the NOS from your government should be mailed by your government's embassy from DC, not by you. Otherwise the letter will be rejected.

No issues with applying for the waiver from your home country as long as everything gets to DOS.

Your sponsoring organization will need to send the NOS themselves once the Department of State requests it from them. Typically, your government doesn't need the NOS from the sponsoring organization to issue their own statement - make sure you contact the embassy and find out what the requirements are, as they might need additional documentation.

There shouldn't be any issues with your fiance sending the documentation in.
