Almost time for interview and now nervous

I have filled out all the required paperwork already and everything was approved. I have my fiancé recent check stub from January 2017, w2 from 2016, income tax from 2016, bank statement. 

 

We have 3 weeks left before my k1 visa interview and he got laid off today, Feb 23, 2017. When he completed the petition and was accepted he had a stable job. He also owns a rental property and used that on the petition as well. 

 

Will we be fine if he doesn't find a job before 3 weeks since everything was done accurately and this layoff came as a surprise? He will be on unemployment plus the rental property income.

He should be fine. If the CO asks about his current employment (they often do ask what the fiance does for a living), then just tell him what happened. But if he completed the I-134 correctly at the time it was filed, then that should be sufficient. Worst case, I-134-wise, is they will ask for a joint sponsor.

 

That said, he should start looking for a joint sponsor anyway since if he doesn't find a job by the time AOS filing comes up, he will very likely need one then. Hopefully he does find a new job, but having a contingency plan is always good.
