Hey guys, my wife finally got in touch with somebody (helpful) at the USCIS 800 number and they said that everything received after the 21st  is gonna be returned if it's  not the updated I-485 1/1/2017 form, so I guess we'll have to wait until the package gets back.

woooow! that is not goooood, sad about it but hopefully it will all pass someday. good luck to us anyway...

Hey guys, I was discussing with someone and the person suggested that instead of waiting for USCIS to mail back our I-485  because of using the outdated form, we could send in another new form I-485 with photocopies of the accompanying documents sent to USCIS by Monday 02/27/17 and maybe attach a letter to them explaining the circumstances/mix-up. What do you guys think?

No he is none of that but I thought about the double filing too and we just have to wait to hear from the USCIS before anything else.

I wouldn't recommend to send over another application I was recommended to wait until u was contacted by USCIS (mail/E-mail/text) it is almost unreal what happened with the form being updated right when we sent the package .

The form was updated over a month before expiration. I know it was available on the website since at least January 15 because that is when I redid mine.

yeah I saw it but my thought was that it was the new one of 01/17/2017 I filled without knowing it was that of 12/23/2016. it is okay, patiently waiting for the return to make amends asap. thanks all. good luck to us

Just in case this is helpful to anyone in my highly specific situation: if you, like me, sent the USCIS the previous version of I-485 while it was still accepted, had it returned due to incorrect filing fees, and then sent the same form back rather than the updated one, that's OK because they first received and processed the I-485 while it was still being accepted.
