Airline ticket for my K1 fiancé

Hello everyone

first I would like to apologize if I posted this in the wrong section. My fiancé in Afghanistan had her visa approved and she will be getting it in a couple days. So I've begun looking at airline tickets. I'm in the US myself. I'm having trouble with finding decent priced tickets OR ensuring both her and I are on the same returning flight.

My question is, could I purchase two round trip tickets for us for example from the US to Dubai. And I would use one of the tickets to there but my fiancé wouldn't since she's not with me. But on the way back she would use the returning flight ticket. Has anyone tried this before? Would I encounter any issues? I wouldn't think so but wanted to make sure.

I appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

If the way there isn't used..the way back will be automatically canceled.

If she has a visa in hand, purchase your tkt first. Then book hers right after you book yours from the US on Emirates.

Ya know..not sure why I didn't think of that. Ha. Thank you very much for your help.  Also thank you Kieren. I checked emirates but they're a little pricey in comparison. Appreciate it

Other alternatives, call the airline and purchase over the phone.  That way you will be on the same itinerary.  The other option is to contact a travel agent, they are used to these kind of scenarios.  If you do end up just ordering online,  make your seat selections right after you purchase.  I'm sure you will want to be seated next to her on the long flight. ;)

I think the best thing to do is get with a travel agent. I found one and am working with them to figure this out. Much less stres this way ha.

One more question I had though..

So my fiancé will fly from Kabul to Dubai. It's her first time flying outside the country. And as we all know, Dubai is huuuge and very intimidating and overwhelming for a first time flyer. When she steps off the plane in Dubai, she won't have to go through that long line of people being checked for visas and passports, right? Since she is only connecting in Dubai. She will go a different path to transits/connecting flights. Am I correct by saying that? I'm trying to walk her through this.

I haven't been through that airport, but there's a chance that she will have to go through a second clearance. Some countries make you go through customs even if it is just a connection because the passenger has the option to leave the airport at will.
