Hi all, this is my very first post. I have been reading and learning a lot here. I have come to ask for a piece of advice.

On February 13rd we got our NVC Letter (hard copy) along with the NVC Case Number, however we never got our NOA2, it was not even updated through the tracking system. We called them and they asked us 2 weeks to see what it is happening with it, but this is not why I came here for.

We are moving forward as suggested by a NVC representative. After a couple days, we checked on our case number and got the READY status, which means ,after googling, the package has arrived in Rio de Janeiro. Okay, I e-mailed the US Consulate in Rio asking about what steps to take next and hey answered back the following message:

Quote

Dear Visa Applicant:

NO MAILING LETTER WILL BE RECEIVED. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION BELOW:

The U.S. Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro has received your petition for a K visa.  Congratulations- you’re one step closer to completing your application.

We want to make sure you arrive to the Consulate prepared on the day of the interview to avoid any hassle for you or unnecessary delays.  Please read the following Information carefully to ensure that you bring all of the required documents with you to your interview.

To be properly prepared on the day of your interview, please read the instructions and bring all of the documents listed here

Pay special attention to the three documents below - they are the most commonly-neglected documents that can often delay visa applications.

·        Recent Police Certificate from the Federal Police

·        Recent Police Certificate from the “Secretaria de Segurança Pública”

Police certificate’s link: https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/where-to-apply/

·        Notice of Approval for I-601A waiver and proof of your departure from the United States (for applicants with prior unlawful presence in the United States)

Scheduling process step-by-step:

1-     Fill out the DS-160 .ONE IS REQUIRED FOR EACH APPLICANT;

2-     Created your account at the scheduling site.  You will need your case number/DOS number that was provided to you by the National Visa Center (NVC)- this is a 10-digit number that will most likely begin with “RDJ.”  Make sure you are in the “Immigrant Visa” section of the website;

3-     Choose your preferred delivery option for receiving the visa if your application is approved and enter your address if you choose home delivery.  If you wish, you may choose to pick up your visa at one of the Applicant Service Center (ASC/CASV) offices;

4-     Pay the required fee.  ONE FEE IS REQUIRED FOR EACH APPLICANT;

5-     Schedule an appointment for your interview that can only take place in the United States Consulate in Rio de Janeiro – Other posts cannot conduct K visas interview;

6-     Print your confirmation page and bring it to the Consulate on the day of your interview.

All K visa applicants, regardless of age or gender, must have a medical examination with one of our authorized panel physicians before their interview at the Consulate.  We recommend you schedule your medical exam at least one week prior to your interview date.  A list of the panel physicians and additional instructions are available

here.

Please note that you must complete the procedure described above for all dependents in your case. One whole procedure for each applicant.

From what I have read here and many other websites, the US Consulate in Rio is no longer sending out the packet 3, and apparently it is only sent through e-mail (would that be packet 4?), like this one.

I followed all the instructions, filled out the DS-160 form and created my account to pay the MVR fee, however I simply cannot finish the application as it claims I CANNOT SCHEDULE THE INTERVIEW YET. I e-mailed the Consulate again and they are asking for an appointment letter. As far as I know they do not schedule interviews anymore, you do it yourself using their website, even the fee is paid on-line.

I will attach the picture with the error message. Has anyone from Brazil ever experienced such situation? I wonder what I should do next. Any tips?

Ps: Sorry if I posted it on the wrong thread, feel free to move it to the right place.

Thanks in advance

They haven't sent mail/ packets in like forever.

The email is the only thing you guys will get, you should follow the directions there and everything should go smoothly. Yes, everything is done online and you're the one scheduling the interview within their available appointments.

But I do remember two girls that had error codes last year, I can't recall their usernames but it shouldn't hard to find their threads in the Brazilian portal. As far as I remember they had to contact the embassy many times to get it fixed.

Send them screenshots, detailing everything and they should help.

best of luck

Any news?

Yes,  I have! After exchanging a couple e-mails with the US Consulate in Rio, I am finally able to finish my application and move ahead to the appointment scheduling. I  am not sure if they really fixed it, or the application became available after almost a month of its arrival in Rio. I believe it was the second hypophysis.
