I thought we burned the White House when you tried to invade Canada?

Maybe, I don't remember. I just know we did the final butt kicking.

It was 1814.

The MDL refers to the Muddy Ditch Left. MDR refers to the muddy ditch right. I use it as shorthand to identify people or opnions on the far end of political stances. As if to say they are so far from the middle they are in the ditch.

Its kind of my running gag here, meant to be more humorous than anything .

Of course you have those dead in the Middle of the road like myself, but we are few and far between  and people like Teddy who usually travel in the wrong lane with the occasional tire in the ditch, but not really always in it.

Since Lost in Blue left there are almost none of us left in the middle of the road .

Lost was middle? Seemed like MDR to me but what do I know, to some here I would be MDR and I can assure you, I'm not even close lol

A couple summers ago they repainted the road here and painted right over a skunk. Sometimes it feels like that's what being in the middle of the road will get ya on VJ, too :D

Ya sorry but I would say we lost that war. One of our aims for declaring war was to expand our territories, and the treaty kept borders where they were before the war (so we failed in our aim). Another aim of ours was to stop impressment, which the treaty failed to do.

If somebody declares war with a set of goals and they fail to achieve those goals, I would concern them having "lost" that war. I know many modern scholars argue "everyone won" but I think that is just a friendly way to avoid conflict. In the end it was such a minor deal to England because they had far more serious concerns to deal with. For Canada it was a big deal though.

He had a visa. Some people refer to ESTA as as visa, because it works like one, to a certain extent.

"I asked her on what ground was I denied access. I got my ESTA [US visitor's] visa, I have a British passport, I ticked all the rights boxes. She did not give me an answer," he said.

Well no he didn't have a visa. He had an ESTA. Yes some people refer to it as a visa, but it isn't even though it works like one.

He was travelling like any other British citizen. He went online, applied for the ESTA, got approved and then showed up at the airport. Like my wife travels.

When you apply for the ESTA I guess we really don't know what they check or what they do. Presumably it would be reasonable to assume that if your name matched someone on a "No Fly List" at the time of electronically applying for the ESTA, it would automatically flag? BUt maybe that is too complicated for US Immigration.

EDIT:

http://www.no-fly-list.com/ - Anyone know if this is actually a real thing/official list? Did a search for his last name and nothing comes up, but I'm not sure if this list is legit.
