Colombia... Lab results may delay Visa... anyone experience this?

We are 99.999% sure that the lab either messed up their test and or mixed up my wife's results with another person.

Out of 38 people, she was the only one to have a bad test result. The lab will redo the test (hopefully correctly this time), but the results won't be in until after her interview (due to Colombian holidays).

Has anyone else had this happen???

The interview is Tuesday April 10. The results won't be available until Wed. 4-11, the day the visa would normally be issued. Our flights to USA are booked for the morning of Thurs. 4-12.

The doctor told her to go to the interview and tell them that lab results are pending. We are hoping they will give her a "conditional approval", and allow her to pick up the visa on Wed anyway, assuming clear lab results.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I don't have any specific advice other than to stay as flexible as possible with your hotel and airline flights. You may end up having to back off your flight and pay a penalty like I did. Sorry about the lab situation. I am hopeful it will all work out without any delay and you can make your flight on the 12th. I will be pulling for both you and DougyCeci.

WOW!! That is a bummer. Make all that way and then have a problem. I hope it was a mistake and all ends well. I never even thought about the med exams causing a problem. I have no idea what they are looking for other then a communical disease of some sort, but even that should be a temp problem. Do they refuse a visa if they have an exsisting medical condition?

I hope all ends well for you and you two are on the same plane comming back to the US!!!!!

June 12, 2007......I receive packet 3 from our lawyer

June 14, 2007..... I send Packet 3 to Paola via FEDEX (2 day delivery)

June 25, 2007......Paola receives Packet 3 (9 days late)

July 3, 2007.........Packet 3 Fedex to Embassy in Bogota

July 5, 2007.........Packet 3 arrives at the embassy in Bogota

July 19, 2007.......Called NVC, interveiw scheduled for Aug. 17, 2007

July 31, 2007.......Paola goes to US Embassy in Bogota and gets Pkt 4 in person

Aug. 13, 2007.....Lab exam

Aug. 15, 2007.....Medical exam

Aug. 17, 2007.....INTERVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Failed cuz of a missing doc. :(
