Will they ask why did I decide to not get MBA in the AOS interview?

I have no idea, but if they do it really doesn't matter. You have a perfectly valid reason. People are allowed to have a change of heart. Your choice has nothing to do with your marriage to the USC.

I had no idea where they were in the timeline, just trying to interpret here because as I said, I highly doubt the bullying version. School officials are concerned with having their students maintain status. And they usually have a much better idea about F1 regulations than students, just fyi.

OP, do you have your EAD yet? Because now that your OPT has ran out, you need some kind of other work document.

Tell the university officials exactly where you are in the AOS process. You probably will be kicked out of F-1 status, but as I and previous posters have said, that's not a problem since you're already in the AOS phase. When you get your green card, you can report that to the international office, and they'll bid you farewell (and probably be happy to see you go, as they won't have to worry about you anymore. Don't take this personally :))

I am 2 weeks to get my EAD and AP. I am getting multiple job offers. How do I response to them or am I obligated to report to them at all?

Of course they do. They obviously know very little about all other aspects of US immigration, just fyi

Have you ever been in F1 status yourself? Because there's a lot of intricacies about that also. And that's what I'm trying to get at in my advice to OP. Saying they're totally fine with whatever they do is just not true - they can't work without EAD and do have to report to their original international office that brought them here

Did I say they're totally fine with "whatever they do?" I'm sorry if that's how you interpreted anything I said. I said they are totally fine in the situation they are in. Naturally they need authorization to work. That wasn't the original question here. OP was worried that the school could stop them from AOS'ing. Which they can not.

out of curiosity are they a state school that requires international students to pay a lot more than in state ones and might be annoyed that they admitted you hoping to get lots of money but since you can get in state tuition after the aos they are out some money.

good luck

by "them" do you mean the companies or the school international office?

You can ask USCIS to expedite your EAD based on 'financial loss' -job offer. Or you can tell the companies you can't start until a month from now because you are waiting to get your EAD

But you can't work without your EAD.

Your school international office may have referrals available to immigration lawyers or answers on the legality of work, but as @Suss&Camm says, they don't do immigration stuff themselves as that's not why they exist

I thought about it. I won't have to pay out of state tuition when my AOS is completed, and maybe it is the reason they are stopping me.

sorry, I don't want to derail OPs question with side bickering, and seem to have conflated responses.

I agree, OP is fine/legally present with having filed AOS and shouldn't be worried they can take that away.

What I'm answering is the question of whether they can take away their F1 status and whether they have to report their change of status to the international office. The answer to that question is yes.

OP doesn't need to justify their marriage/change of heart etc to the international office. But the international office needs to know, because if they're just studying part-time they're not adhering to F-1 regulations.

Now it so happens that OP doesn't need to adhere to F-1 regulations anymore because of the AOS/pending green card.

I would tell them that you no longer are in F1 status because you are married to a USC, filed for AOS and are awaiting your green card.

here's info from a state school (that may not be yours, but the info is probably similar and applies to your case as well): https://iss.washington.edu/marrying-citizen

And fyi, based on the info you provided, you probably haven't violated your status, as long as you stopped working after OPT ended, so don't worry too much about the wording here-  "Although we will keep your record in Active status until one of these events occurs, the USCIS may still find that you have violated your status if you take certain steps as part of your Adjustment application."

It's all about money!

If you're an F-1 student, you're most likely paying them a ton of money for school (international student fees). When you adjust status and become a permanent resident (assuming you reside in the state state), you will only need to pay about a third of the tuition fees you're currently paying. You may not even want to go to that school at all. The thought of them losing out on this free money is driving them nuts and that's why they're harassing you.

Don't worry at all. They can't do a thing! Leave your life anyway you want.

You talk you teach, you listen you learn
