FYI I just tried to call USCIS and they said that due to high call volumes they currently had a 'stop notice' and were unable to transfer me to a Tier 2 agent at this time, so to try back in a few hours or tomorrow. Ugh.

hmmm that message was given also yesterday... let's hope they get it sorted soon. No infopasses in nearby city?

Hello, please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are infopass appointments? I thought it was to get biometrics done, but sounds like other queries also? Thanks!

Biometrics is a scheduled appointment you receive in the mail to go get fingerprinted and photographed for your immigration documents. This can be at a local USCIS office or a ASC (application support center) depending on what's in your area. You don't book this.

An InfoPass is an appointment you can book at a local USCIS office if you have queries you can't find the answer to anywhere else or you might have a problem with a document, such as an error and you can't get help elsewhere... there are more instances ofc where an InfoPass might be suitable.

Biometric appointments are to get biometrics done.  Infopass appointments are made when you have a problem or issue that needs faster resolve.

I received my 3 noa's and biometrics letter mid January 2017 and the 3 noa's don't have dates. I called customer service end of January to inquire about this and the csr made a report for the Missouri service center which issued these noa's and he said that he put there were typographical errors in my noa's. He told me to wait for 2-4 weeks for a reply from Missouri. No mail from them as of today.

Thank you everyone for your advice!

I tried calling USCIS again and was told tier 2 not available and to call back tomorrow :(. also inquired about why my case status is not showing on their system, only to be told again that its normal on there side and to wait 30- 45 days to call back. this whole thing just is BS and ridiculous. I have managed to schedule a info pass appointment for friday. fingers crossed they will sort it out and be able to shed some light on the problem.  I will let you guys know of the outcome.

Jessica VA -have you tried calling USCIS back?

hmm if they put it as a service request of the type "typographical error" you can do that yourself. Google uscis e-request, do it now :)

I would keep the infopass still though cause you won't be able to follow your e-request online other than putting your email for when they update on it. But at least it will have already been put in the system in case that is what they will have you do at the InfoPass in any case. It can't hurt you to do it.

The regular costumer service people only see what you see, so if you can't see your case status when you enter your receipt number online then neither can they. You need a Tier 2 to check up on it. We had the same issue with our i-129f, our receipt number didn't work for 5 months, we had to talk to a Tier 2 every time as the regular service ppl couldn't see anything.

You might be able to put in a service request online to have them fix your receipt numbers, we had our service request done via Tier 2.

It's not the receipt numbers she needs to fix but the fact the the NOA's have no dates whatsoever on them. I suppose the receipt number could turn out to be a secondary issue though :P

Yeah I don't know about the other issues, I just have experience of the receipt numbers not working issue, that's why I responded to that part. For me it was important to be able to see the case status in case of an RFE and us never getting the hardcopy. Then at least we'd know an RFE had been sent so we could request a second hardcopy before time would run out.

thank you! :P

I tried to submit a service request online but apparently theres already one submitted. Im guessing the USCIS lady I initially spoke to submitted one but i had no knowledge of this. I just wrote down the reference numbers now for each request that was submitted for my reference.

Do you guys think its still worth me going to info pass appointment? I am wondering if they will actually be able to do anything in both scenarios in terms of no date on NOA1 and the officer being able to actually find my receipt numbers on their system.

i really appreciate everyones help and advice. The situation is just so frustrating. Not a good start to the process :(

Case status can take a while to show up, especially from NBC.  Back when I started my process, we all went to NBC and it was new.  Barely anyone could check their case numbers and most files went to local offices in the end without notification.  It took over 2 months for me to be able to look up my case online which was stressful.

Someone at NBC is not doing their job.  In the end your letter for the I-485 is the one you need and doesnt need to actually have a date on it but it's helpful. Keep trying.  Teir 2 are generally more likley to be around in the morning.  Do not let a csr blow you off about speaking to an ISO.

I think you guys may be worrying about nothing. I received my NOA1 in January (see timeline) and of the boxes at the top, 'notice date', 'received date', 'priority date', 'preference classification' and 'date of birth' were all blank. Only the 'notice type', 'case type', 'USCIS alien number' and 'receipt number' were filled out.

I think they use the same NOA1 form for people filing for AOS from different types of visas. So people filing from a work or tourist visa may have different boxes filled out. I was filing from a K1 visa, and my receipt/case number works on the USCIS website, I received my biometrics appointment letter in February as expected... everything is fine. I was confused about the 'notice date' being blank, but it doesn't seem to have caused any issues.

Note that on my biometrics appointment letter it also had blank boxes: 'social security number' (even though I have one), 'account number', and 'TCR'. The only boxes filled out were 'application number', 'notice date', 'case type', 'USCIS A#', 'code' and 'service center'.
