Oh man! I hate questions like that! What I hate even more is when those people start saying, what are you going to do if he's never coming over???? What if he can't come over until you're 60?

OH, you'll be starting your menopause soon!!! Why do you need a man??? What is he good for?

You should have married an American!!! blah, blah...

Oh, did he hear anything? What did he say? Does he even want to come here??? :diablo::cry::clock::ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :protest::crying::bonk: :bonk:

I always thought it was nice that my friends and family were asking me when Hicham was coming. I appreciated that they wanted to know so they could all meet him.

It's nice, but after a very long wait :clock: :clock: :clock: it's getting on my nerves and reminding about the wait and the whole annoying process at this point is just like hitting a wounded animal :sleepy: - too painful for the animal and probably very amusing for the person who's hitting it :alien::bonk: :bonk: :bonk::girlwerewolf2xn: (it's just a anology! nobody's actually hitting anybody, people! relax!):innocent:

i guess my patients are running very short with this subject when it gets asked... But I would only think my family and friends would assume they would be the FIRST people who would know something..

Wallahi I would be yelling it from the Fricking roof top.....

I know this question is hard to take but some people just don't understand the whole immigration process. I know some people were interested and just didn't know what else to say and then there were those who were just nosey. You just figure out who is who. I know it took me a while to understand all this myself. I just didn't understand why my husband just couldn't get on a plane when we first met or get that tourist visa. I did finally talk him into trying for the tourist visa and like he said, he was denied. Now I know better but it took awhile for me to get there. One day they will ask you this question and you'll have the answer or he will be right there beside you to keep them from ever asking again.

I hope you find out the answer to this question soon. Good Luck!

it doesn't bother me... i just don't know what to tell them. i like to say around july or august after he graduated university but you never know!!!

well there was one time it DID bother me. my mom not believing he could actually get a visa because he's from a muslim country, let alone within a few months! she kept saying, "i'll believe it when i see it." i'll show you, mama!(i hope)

OMG! I remember people asking me this every day!!! At the interview he was told he would have his visa in 6 weeks. HA!!! At the clinic I work at all the patients knew what was going on, so I heard this on a daily basis. About a year into the process I would literally tear up every time I heard these words. :crying: Once he was here, everyone knew it....they told me I had a different looking to my face like I was shining

Another one I hate is, Did you talk to your husband today? Of course I talked to my husband today! We talk every day in some way or another, even it it's just a text message saying " I love you and miss you". It makes me want to ask them the same question. :hehe:

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

OPSSSSSSS I DID IT AGAIN!

Maybe I should write the answer on my forehead..............."I DON"T FREAKIN KNOW......STOP ASKING ME!!!"

Yes, it's an annoying question. Ever since I told people at the hospital where I work and the church where I attend that I'm engaged, I've been asked this question. And mind you, this isn't just 20-30 people...try a couple hundred. Including people who've forgotten what you told them a week ago...so the conversation has to be straightened out all over again! I got asked more annoying questions by a few other people who've tried to pry, but I won't go into those. But back to the original question, over time that question does dissipate as people finally understand that it will take a while. I told most everybody in my most recent spiel, "I submitted the paperwork to get her here, and also after conversations with Jacki, it appears she will be here around January of next year." So now most people get that...but there are always stragglers who haven't heard the details. But one thing I've learned is, answer as politely and as methodically as you can...because most of the people who ask are only asking because they care...sure, some are gossipers, but treat everyone as if they genuinely care about your situation. Perhaps you can give them something to do, too...pray for you and your fiancé's application and visa process to go by speedily. Bug them and ask them if they've been praying for you. The time apart from your loved one isn't easy on you as it is...and everyone needs true, sincere prayer from others.

God bless-

I've found that alot of the people I know especially people at work use the "So whens he coming" to offer support...even though it is in a twisted makes me want to smack them kind of way. :innocent: Letting me know I guess that they are there for me(and I choose to believe this because Id cry constantly otherwise)because really if youve never been through this process who'd believe it was so hard?? But some of the people in my family(southern holy rollers talking in tongues) they use it to kind of goad me. Whenever I say anything about Mohammed the kids and I my parents are like you dont even know if he's coming. Inshallah he will be. And they are like it isnt easy for his kind to get in...Umm the human kind??? He is in for a BIG culture shock when he gets here!!!

I think it depends on why the question is being asked. If it is being asked to make a point and not genuinely out of concern, then sure it can be irritating. However, if it's a family member or friend that maybe I don't keep in contact with daily, I find it refreshing to be able to talk about my fiance and the process. I guess you just have to discern the intent of the person asking.

I always took the question as an opportunity to educate people about the immigration process. Yes it was so tiring to repeat myself over and over, but because most americans have no idea what its like, i wanted to give them the dose of reality. Education Education Education.

And guess what? When your darlin arrives and you're happily nesting together the stupid questions don't stop. Well, they're really not stupid questions, but I know I get equally as tired of explaining how we met and sustained a relationship over a 3 year period, how cultural differences are not always a death nell to a relationship, blah blah blah... (My most detested question is "How do you fall in love over the internet?") How do you fall in love... period? Duh.
