This is my first time posting so I'm a lil uneducated in this regard. I have an appointment with Dr Hoosen 6 days and 3 days before my interview, is this enough time for the medical results to be delivered to The Embassy? For we are worried about Administration Process. We don't want to enter it for my fiance flies back to USA 15 days after interview and we want to leave with him

2 years has been enough and we want stability for our son.

And second question is should my American fiance just print his divorce decree or should it be stamped/signed notarized?

Third question is if have  a signed letter from my son's father supporting my son moving with myself and my fiance to USA and supporting my relationship with my fiance and the travel allowance letter from home affairs. Do I need anything else in this regard?

I was very happy with the Doctor in Cape Town and required only one day, and that means only one flight vs Dr Hoosan who requires two trips

I think that you have too little time from the medical to interview.

The JHB doctor Hoosan collects all medicals and sends them to the Consulate once a week, so depending on the day of the week of your second day at the doctor, your medical may not reach the consulate in time for your interview.

Call the doctors office and confirm with them if they'll have your medical results at the Consulate in time for your interview.

Your son - he should have been included in the petition, and had the medical done, if not, the interview will only address your immigrant visa.  He would need a notorised letter from his father allowing him to leave SA permanently. How old is your son?

Divorce Decree:  Your finance will need an original copy from the court or official office that awarded the divorce.

Below is an excerpt from the appointment letter - didn't you get one?

Quote

All civil documents must be original, i.e., they must be issued by the relevant government authority, with their seal of office affixed.  Photocopies of documents even certified copies are not acceptable

Additionally, the following original documents are required, as appropriate:

  • Valid passport,

  • Two (2) full color, 5x5 cm, front facing photos on glossy paper with a white background.  Photos are required of all applicants regardless of age.  Photos must be recent (i.e, taken within the last six months).

  • Long-form/unabridged  Birth Certificate(s) showing names of both parents

  • Long-form/unabridged Marriage Certificate, giving marital status before the present marriage

  • Police certificate/s for any country the applicant/s resided in for six or more months

  • Evidence of financial support  (I-864 and current tax returns from petitioner)

  • DS 260 (Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration)

  • Death Certificate:  Death certificate of any previous spouse if applicable.

  • Divorce Decree(s): divorce decree of any previous spouse if applicable

  • Fees:  currently, the visa application fee is $325.00, which will be required during the interview.

Hey South African fillers, just a quick question is the interview done in jhb?

The US Consulate in Johannesburg is the only one in the country that deals with immigrant visa interviews.

I phoned the Doctor in Johannesburg and they said my medical is on a Monday and your medical exams and x-ray will be picked up on Wednesday, the day before the interview. The receptionist said it will be there for the interview.

It looks like I have all the paperwork ready.

I have the travel documents signed for my son by his father but both our names are on there not sure should it just be the one parent that he travels with or both parents names. I also have 4 different types of layers from the father approving of the move to USA.

My fiance is also divorced and was told he prints his divorce decree bit I'm concerned it need a special stamp or something?

My son changed preschools and developed a runny nose and a slight cough we are medicating him but will this affect the medical to be done in Jozi?

I'm so stressed out lol.

Your sons father would need to sign that letter of consent to leave South Africa permanently in front of a commissioner of oaths (Police station) - it needs only his fathers name and his name - it would have your name on it because it authorises only  you to take him out of country, and for the processing of his immigrant visa.

Who told your fiance that a computer print of his divorce decree is acceptable - Its not.

If you were previously married, you must obtain evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage you have had. Your evidence must be an original or certified copy of one of the following documents:  FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers.

  • Send a photocopy of your marriage termination document(s) to NVC.
  • Bring the original termination document(s) plus a photocopy to your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

For country-specific guidelines on how to obtain acceptable marriage termination documents, use the Document Finder above.

Your sons cold should not be a problem for the medical check, but a quick phone call to Dr. Hoosen would be wise.

Do you have your appointment letter? - read it, it will state:

All civil documents must be original, i.e., they must be issued by the relevant government authority, with their seal of office affixed.  Photocopies of documents even certified copies are not acceptable

Is your son on the petition?

I explained to my fiance what you said and he went down to clerks office and got it stamped and done. The divorce decree is correct now.

The travel document myself and my ex went to copy shop and did the commissioner of Oath but both our names are on it. Should I redo this or won't it matter?

He also gave a commissioner of Oath letter with to say he approves of the move and signed a copy of our sons birth certificate and wrote on it saying he approves then the commissioner of Oath stamped and signed it

I received the appointment letter but it had very little information on it.

My only concern now is if the travel document for my son is now wrong cause both our information is on there. I only listed myself as traveling with him but where they as who is mother and who is father I wrote in all info needed

You have been a wonderful help. Ty so much
