Vietnam Birth Certificate - Original or Copy (Ban Sao)?

My fiancée does not have her original birth certificate. But she has an official copy with the words (Ban Sao) on top.

Is that good enough? We are worried about getting a blue slip because of it.

I read somewhere that the birth certificate has to be an original but then I read somewhere else that an official copy is ok.

Does anyone have experience in this?

06/27/18....Original AoS interview date scheduled for this day but we had to reschedule it.

08/21/18....2nd AoS interview date scheduled for this day but we had to reschedule it, again.

10/10/18....AoS interview - Easily passed

10/11/18...Date of I-797 NoA "Welcome to the USA" letter

10/11/18...."New Card Is Being Produced"

10/15/18...."Card Was Mailed To Me"

10/18/18....Green card delivered to our mailbox :D

07/16/20....I-751, RoC packet sent to USCIS

07/21/21....Filed for N-400

08/04/21....N-400 Accepted

02/24/22....Citizenship Interview, passed

03/18/22....Oath Ceremony to be a US Citizen!!!!! :D!

If she has certified copy of giay khai sinh (ban sao) and it is too recent, they might issue a blue paper for original one and/or a signed statement for not having it.

The copy they issued her had a red stamp on it but it was on plain paper and didn't look very official.

 

I just talked to her again and she said it looks like she will be able to get a brand new 'original' birth certificate issued in the next few weeks. I hope that will be good enough even though it will be new.

My wife had to get hers reissued not that long before the interview and it was not an issue.

2015-10-13 Married in Phú Yên, Việt Nam

2016-05-16 NOA2 133 days from NOA1

2016-08-11 Case complete

Consulate

2016-10-31 Interview 81 days from case complete, 301 days from NOA1

2016-11-05 Visa received
