Im about divorce in the philippines. Im from the philippines and i enter here in the usa with cr-1 visa and me and my husband are married in the philippines 2yrs ago..long story short ive been abuse by my husband verbally, emotionally, financially  and the last is physically. I called the women protection service here in state and they are the one whos helping me. But my question is this  im about to file for a divorce with the help of legal aid and the women service and they told me that they will help me for my immigration status too. But not im little bit confuse on what to do, i read this before that the divorce will only recognize in the phil if the foreign spouse initiate it...  should I continue to file the divorce or not,.. me myself i want to have a divorce for all the abuse that ive been through with this man ? I hope guys u cAn give me an advice about this

Do you plan on moving back to the Philippines, or staying?  If you are staying, it matters not who divorces who.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.
