I have read somewhere, maybe here, that when the CSC gets a I-129f packet they apply a barcode and anytime it is handled they scan this barcode and this will show as an update on a persons USCIS account. Is this true? Also I thought that cases were processed in order that they are received except in a few cases. I have noticed here that couple that have a later NOA1 date than mine are receiving their NOA2. My NOA1 date is 11-18-2016 and there are many beyond that point receiving NOA2. I am happy for those who have been approved but at the same time I am getting a little worried. Thanks for any help.

Possible on the bar code; but not entirely sure thats how it works.

Petitions are not handled first come first serve or as they are received really. System is more like, they receive the petition, it gets put in a file room, when someone finishes whatever petitions they have, they grab the next batch. That could contain yours and many others all with different dates. Some people review the files faster than others. Some seem to maybe even work on them from home to speed things up. Sometimes you get stuck waiting just to end up with an RFE. Maybe your application ended up with someone who took a week vacation. Maybe whoever got your petition also got 3-4 expedited petitions that bounce yours behind theirs'. There is no exact set way they do, or have to process the petitions.

You're still within normal processing time also.

They are not processed in the order they are received.  Some adjudicators work faster than others, some take vacations, go on sick leave, etc.  It all just depends on what adjudicator your case was assugned to.  It is not uncommon for some received after you to get processed before you.  Use the search tool to enter processing times, and you will see many prior posts about this.

You are still within the 5 month processing window.  Nothing to worry about at this point.
