I would have to disagree my initial post also describes Hilary Clinton. It was a while ago, but after the election results came out I said her losing made the Donald winning marginally easier to bear. Not really a huge fan of Hilary Clinton however she is very intelligent, something Donald Trump appears to wish people to believe he is, but there is no evidence.

Donald Trump so far is every bit, and so much more, of the disaster his campaign promised him to be.

I don't see how anyone can defend anything he has said or done thus far. Granted it is very early into his first term in office, but get real, the Donald is obviously totally out of his depth and everything he has said and done confirms the warnings of his detractors' but oddly strengthens the adoration of his shrinking fan base even as he acts contrary to the promises he made them.

Also as to my original post, I truly wish I could find just one thing to like that Donald Trump has said, done, or stands for. I truly do.

By not liking anything he has proposed makes it seem like the way many here were regarding Obama, such as lostinblue and a few others. I'm not talking about his personality.

I agree that he gets good TV ratings. Sensationalism does that. THE END

I have been through many President's in my time. There have been many things I liked about each and every one of them.

It would be very comforting if what I see in Donald Trump was as simple as not agreeing with him. On most issues Trump has often taken polar opposite views or made statements directly contradicting each other. He has no center, no apparent soul or humanity. Trump gives every impression to me of being a warped, spoiled egomaniac with zero connection between reality and his person, a spoiled rich man that doesn't understand the word no and has no ability to tolerate criticism.

In summation he is not that great, and the things he promised his shrinking fan base are not going to be in even their best interest, let alone the overwhelming rest of us watching a tragic joke infomercial unfold into the travesty of brute cult of personality being unleashed on the world. Trump is a madman, and I get that some people think that is awesome but I'm at a complete loss understanding why. Hyper-partisanship or my grief over Hilary Clinton losing don't factor in to my assessment.

I like Trump's ability to speak the truth, no matter how troubling it may be.

How about a thread discussing what ideas of his we like or agree with? Being the neutral, middle of the road conservative liberal that I am, I'll get the ball rolling by going first.

I agree with with the proposal that prohibits becoming a lobbyist until you have been out of office for at least 5 years.

I agree with the proposal for Congressional term limits. Serving is an honor, not a career.

I agree with stepping up enforcement of border security.

I agree with with more rigorous vetting in the immigration process. But I do wish it would be done in a more timely manner than it currently is.

I agree with swiftly deporting illegals who are criminals.

I agree with the US standing tall in the world and not being a pushover. It's OK to stand firm. And I don't mean telling all of our allies to piss off and threatening anyone who doesn't agree with us. I've found in life that being firm but polite and respectful gets me what I want or close to it in many cases.

Your turn.

I agreel with pretty much everything you said OP. Except more rigorous vetting on immigration. I believe that the visa/AOS processes cannot possibly be more rigorous. What I do believe is in a more objective and efficient process. Right now the procedures are so broad, confusing and full of unnecessary bureaucratic paperwork that otherwise legal immigrants are thrown into undocumented condition for the very own system that aims to prevent that, at least for a few months. I'm totally against giving immigration officers more discretion than they already have, it was already too much before Trump and we've all seen stories of abuse here.

I like President Trump, I just think he made poor choices for White House staff and secretaries, and is now suffering with bad advice.
