Petitioner lives abroad, has not filed taxes in past 3 years

My husband and I are applying for the IR-1 for him (I am a US citizen) but we are having difficulty with the I-864.  My father is providing an affidavit of support but I did not know I also had to fill out an I-864 as the petitioner. This means I have to provide evidence of my taxes but because I have lived and worked in the UK for the past 3 years, I was not aware I needed to file with the IRS (I studied from 2013, did temp work 2014, and started full time employment 2015- present). What do I put in box 18 and 19 of the form regarding my federal income tax return information? Do I need to actually provide tax return information even though I haven't earned anything in the US?

Does anyone know if I can just do back taxes for these past 3 years or is it better to do the streamlined procedure? Does anyone know how I file taxes from abroad without going through a very expensive tax agency?

Thank you!

Hi you can log on to the irs website and request and file a form to show proof of non filing from the IRS for the past 3 years https://www.irs.gov/individuals/tax-return-transcript-types-and-ways-to-order-them. It also says that it  in the instructions if you did not file, you have to submit proof. Depending on how much you made, you may be required to file taxes on your foreign income. Maybe this will help https://www.irs.gov/uac/irs-offers-tax-tips-for-taxpayers-with-foreign-income

US citizens need to file taxes even when living and working abroad. As a student, you may have been exempt from filing in 2013, but you will most likely need to file your 2014 and 2015 taxes.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.

True but only if they made over a certain amount, and if they filed taxes in their foreign country, citizenship status where they live and some other scenarios, but in general I concur.

They always need to file (if they have income over a certain limit), but not necessarily pay, US taxes.

If it isn't difficult, it isn't worth it.
