Just wondering, could anyone that has already scheduled their medical and their interview tell me if you're able to choose a time for either or can you only choose a date? Like a lot of people here, we don't live near London so getting there (cheaply) is a priority and we would prefer to have something in the afternoon, rather than the morning.

Thank you!

When you call Knightsbridge to make the appointment for your medical, they'll ask you what time you'd like. Likewise, when you go to book your interview it shows you what times are available on what dates. I was travelling down from Scotland, so I arranged mine to be in the afternoon to allow for travel time.

Knightsbridge were really very flexible when I called them. I originally had a morning appointment, but then called back to see if I could switch it to an afternoon one and they were super helpful and accommodating!

Hi, I just found this thread and hoping for some clarity. I will also be travelling up to London, so wanting to make sure that I keep things as cheap as possible and not have to do the trip several times. When it comes to booking the interview, do I have to wait until I have done my medical or can I book them both together? I realise that I need to leave 5 working days for the London embassy to receive the results, but I was wondering whether I could do it all within the same trip. Thanks! :)

Once you have the medical booked you can go ahead and book (and pay for) your interview online immediately. You get the option to choose the date / time from what is available on-screen (make sure you do it for at least 5 working days after your medical date, so they have time to send the results across to the embassy).

OK... I know everyone is trying to get these things done ASAP!!  and thats great .. us too lol

However... after figuring out we Can indeed travel to the US on the Visa Waiver while this is in progress... we will be gone all the month of September.

We are waiting now for the NOA 3 ... the number they give you and instructions.

Our concern is... what if the interview butts up too close to when we leave?  and he might possibly not have his passport back yet .. eek!!

Also we wont be able to MOVE to the states yet..we must come back.. finish up things here.. sell the car etc lol

So... is there any problem booking the medical and interview LATER ?? like when we get back from holiday ?

No problem at all. Is this a spouse visa? Your profile doesn't say, but you are in a DCF thread so probably. If so, your instructions are here online:

https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/family-immigration/how-to-apply-2/

Skip down to third paragraph Applying for a visa through the Immigrant Visa Unit in London

Yes ... Spouse visa

I'd love to just get it sorted before we go.. but again if its too close to September to get it all back in time.. or would we have issue when we landed in the States as we intend to leave on a cruise and then back to the UK within the month!

Would it just be better to leave it till we get home ?

You need the police certificate and immunizations to take to the medical exam, so get on that if you haven't. That's your first  hold up before choosing a medical date. If you have that sorted, you could easily have the visa before September.  Medical date is important because it starts the six month clock for when your visa will expire, so factor that date into entry or moving plans.

Once you know the case number LNDxxxxxxxxxx, the clinic will let you make an appointment with little wait for it. You submit the visa application DS-260 and readiness form online, then choose your own interview date from what's available. (I forget how DCF applicants get their LND case number. K1s get one by calling the NVC if they don't want to wait for the letter from London, but your case never goes to NVC so not sure if they could help you or not.)

The passport and visa are usually back within 7 days after interview. If you can't leave the passport at the interview, you can courier it to them when you are done with your trip.  Or you can put off everything until after the trip.

If you have a visa before your trip, you don't use VWP. He enters on his visa. At entry, he become a permanent resident (green card holder) and his passport is marked as such for proof until his card comes in the mail. He travels on the trip and back to the UK and back to the US as a US permanent resident. His passport stamp will be like having a greencard in his wallet.

thanks for all that info.. I think we'll hop on the stuff and see if we can get it sorted in time...As you said.. we could always put off finishing up till after we get back... we gotta come back after all LOL we're leaving out little dog here lol

I was just concerned that it might look fishy with him leaving the country within a week and then a month again directly after POE ...
