FYI-Processing case time changed to 8 weeks

Just called the NVC to get my usual weekly update in regards to the case(IR5) (yes I bother them often:-)

We know that it takes up to 6 weeks, even the official site says2-4 weeks to review the case. But the guy told me that 2 days ago that was changed and now the timeframe is up to 2 months.

When I asked why this isn't posted on the site, he said he thought that it was. But everyone who sent a case up unitl 2-3 days ago will still be under "up to 6 weeks " timeframe.

SAD

I assume you did not realize you could have done electronic processing and you would have gotten your case complete in less than 10 days once all docs were submitted.

WHAT??? I knew this is an option, but how do you know it takes 10 days for electronic processing? I thought its the same timeline no matter how the case was sent..

I know because we used electronic processing and with information from another member here I learned it is handled by a separate group.  Read my signature below for actual time I had for Scan date to case complete.

omg,  I am going to cry. Why I didnt know this information before((

But how about them needing the wet signature on the I864? I thought they need an original.

Also, do you think its too late to resend everything my email now?

It pays to do lots of research on VJ.  There's a wealth of information here but it can be time consuming and hard to find at times.  When Electronic Processing, you submit a scanned copy of the I864 with signature.  Then the original with wet signature is submitted at the consulate interview.  It's too late to change the process once you have submitted it to NVC.  Once you start Electronic Processing or normal processing, it cannot be changed.
