I was browsing through my bundle of immigration docs today when I noticed that in my I-765 application, the A# is incorrect by one digit! I called USCIS. The first person I spoke to said that I would have to go to Newark to get my biometrics done again. He could not give me any further advice. I thought this odd so I called again and the lady who took my call added a note on the system, with the correct A#, to be passed to the National Benefits Center, who is processing my case. She confirmed that it will take about 30 days for me to receive written confirmation of the typo being corrected. I have a couple of questions:

1 - As I have already been for my biometrics appt in Newark, and my I765 appointment notice contained the incorrect A#, will this adversely affect my application for Employment?

2 - Could this have any impact on my other application, i.e. I485 adjustment of status? The docs for my AOS contain the correct A#. I attended a separate biometrics appt for my AOS application.

Currently I am therefore simply awaiting my EAD, and interview for AOS. I came here on A K1 visa.

Many thanks for your advice...

Don't bother about calling the misinformation line... they don't know sh*t.

I would get an infopass ASAP and go there in person and let them know about the mistake. I doubt it would have an impact on your I-485, because your I-765 is based on your I-485 and not the other way around. But go get it fixed ASAP.

The officer at USCIS advised that she was letting the MSC know of the change - should I still book an infopass?

Everyone here will tell you the samething, do NOT trust the 1800 line. They are basically people paid to sit there and read off of a screen... like when you call Dell, AOL, Amazon, etc... they are not knowledgeable about immigration laws and USCIS regulations... so If I were in your shoes, I would definitely make an infopass. Do you live far from your local office ?

Milesinfront,

I am going through a very similar situation with a typo in my A#.

I came to US with a K1 visa, and I filed my AOS (I-485), AP (I-131) and EAD (I-175) with the A# that was given to me in the airport (I-94 form).

I've already received my AP and EAD but I am still waiting for my green card.

I recently received a 2nd NOA for biometrics with a different A# (the differences is only one number). I found this odd not only because of the number but because my biometrics were already taken. Anyway, I called USCIS and then they created a service request so they can investigate and attempt to fix this problem. Also, they advised to attend the appointment.

I went to the appointment in New Orleans and they only took my fingerprints.

A week ago I received a letter from USCIS as a response to the service request. It says that the correct number is the one that appears in the 2nd NOA for biometrics and not the one in the I-94 form, what happened is that the official that received me at the airport made a mistake when he wrote that number (What a mess!! ).

That said, I would like to know what happened to your application, and if you did something extra to make it fix, like getting an infopass or something else.

I would really appreciate your response or the response of somebody else, because I want to know if this could hurt a job process I am going through now, and also a I trip that I have planned to go outside the country :hehe:

:help: Thanks!

I was given 3 different A#'s.

One on my NOA1 for the fiance application, the second came on my visa itself and the third came on my biometrics appointment letter.

It was confusing which one to pick when I was filling out my I-485, but everyone on visajourney just went with what was on their NOA1, so I did the same.

On the day of my biometrics appointment the guy said it wasn't right and went to check up on it. When he came back he said that the A# on my visa was actually someone else's!

I just find it amazing that this is a relatively common occurrence based on the people I've seen on visajourney who also have multiple A#'s.
